Got to agree with Grover Cleveland. He practically guarantees you 20-25 wins, will stop many losing streaks and gives up almost nothing. Worth 11+ mil hands down.

[quote:15f4eb4670]But, I really like Duke Snider. I've NEVER had a mediocre season from him. Always hits .300 +, Always hits 40 + HR's, always drives in 100 + runs and he's a great fielder. (all for 5 mill less than the Mick)

Had Snider once in ATGI and won a title with him, so trying him in a 100 million league, early but so far DUKE is killing me .264BA, .367 slg and .284OBP arghhh I think HAL just assumed I have Cesar Geronimo playing in CF!!

Hard to argue with Mantle if money was no object.

But it always is, at least for me.

Therefore Mays for hitters parks. Al Simmons is no slouch either. I used to like Banks but am now a Yount convert. For pure offense, Hornsby is just amazing. If he was a 1 he'd be worth 16 Million.

For pitcher's parks: Musial, Cobb

Cheap pitchers:
Worrell
Speer

Top pitchers (pitcher's parks) Clemens, McLain
Top value pitchers (hitters parks) Dizzy Dean, Demaree

Hey Charles, don't give up on the Duke! I had him on this team, and he was hitting close to your numbers early on. It always averages out to a huge season for the Duke! Always!

Greatest player for the price:

C-May/Carter
1b-Chance
2b-Collins
SS-Wagner/Banks
3B-Weaver
LF-Meusel/Heathcote
CF-Mays
RF-Clemente/Cuyler/Aaron/Rice

SP-Boyd/Kaat/Speer/Frock/Alexander
RP-Osinski/Garman/Fosnow/Taylor/Wyatt/Garber/Giusti

Common theme for me seems to be guys with great defense that can produce some offense. Few exceptions there. Once I figure out Fenway, I might include Covington, Jackson, Thomas, Barfield, Bailey, Oglivie, Brouhard, and the like...

LMAO!

Funny thing is we could fill a league with a dozen guys (maybe a few more) who I'd feel the same way about....You'd be on the list Rick. :)

Hmm....That gives me an idea for a new league.

What player, for under 2 MIll, who is not a 15 game injury risk, can regularly deliver 30-40 HRs, 80-120 RBIs and is one of the best defensive players at his position?
And if he is not the best value for the buck, somethings amiss.
and he ain't been mentioned yet.
