As I suspected, I am losing 2-1 ballgames because my offense is SO INOFFENSIVE. I did score 23 runs in one game last night but I have played this game often enough to know that when the starter gives up 7 in a couple of innings and the next reliever gives up 12 in 1 1/3 innings that the STUPID RIDICULOUS Fatigue card has come into play. How very annoying for someone on the short end of that. I was lucky that it wasnt me this time but I have seen it happen all too often.

Eddie,

Yeah, you're right about those big innings. It's stupid the way they have that set up. It's meaningless really, just skews the numbers for the pitcher and doesn't really change the end result. They may as well bring in a position player to pitch! :D

I think it is also a factor that causes a lot of inflated ERA's for very good pitchers. That's why I seldom check that stat. With pitchers I usually check how well they have performed in the majority of games. A few big blowouts will balloon even the best of pitcher's ERA, but the true indicator is W's and Saves.

With position players, I do the same thing.
For example, players like Wilkerson may not even bat over .200 for the season, but he may still score 110 runs with 75-90 RBI and 30+ HRs from the leadoff or #2 spot. IMO, that is what matters to me. ERA and BA are overrated IMO.

BTW - My team sucks.

Robvoz, I sent you a counteroffer and will wait an extra day for you to look at if you need it.

I wish I had spent a little more time mapping out a strategy when I put together my draft list. I knew there would be a learning curve for a first timer in a 60 mil league but I am struggling more than I thought I would. I hate dropping players at 20% but I definitely wont get it done unless I do something.

Rob,

You make some good points. I agree for the most part.

Right now, we're getting killed by our "ace" Lidge. He's got a 5+ ERA with a 2-4 record, 4 blows saves and another game where he *would* have gotten the win that didn't go down as a BS or a loss.

If he gets turned around, I think we'll be OK, but who knows in this crap shoot of a league!

I am trying out Lidge for the 1st time this year in the 2nd round of the JaserD Tourney. I didn't get Rivera - my favorite this year. and am hoping he can work from the 7th inning to get to Dotel on the rightside and work the 8th and or 9th from the leftside - as my setup and closer. I also have Maqhay for the middle on the leftside - who happens to be even. Hope it works out.

Well, Lidge certainly has a better card than Rivera, but you also pay more.

I think he's been pitching tired for us so we're tweaking the settings a little bit to see if that makes a difference. 8)

Got the fingers crossed...

He already gave up a 10th inning HR to Mora in game 1 and blew a save in game 3 of the very 1st set of the season. But I was fortunate to pull out a victory in that one saved by my .96M guy. Hopefully not the shape of things to come tho.

Well I went ahead and dropped another 15 mil + in players which hurts to no end. I tried to make trades and Robvoz graciously tried to help me out but we couldnt get it done. I am clearly in desperation mode to drop this much money but I also clearly wasnt going to compete with my current offense. We will see how things work out now.
