106. Rigged Splits - Greg Gross, OF (proxy)

Interesting stat on Gross....He played 17 years in the Majors and only had 7 HRs. Five of them came in his big power year of 1977. I don't have his split stats but I bet he is gonna be heck on RHP and pretty light on LHP.

If my occasional posts are intruding just shoot me a PM and I'll go away.

I like the 'outsider's' perspective, LM. Would love to hear your comments on more of the players selected.

96. sogcomando - Bill North - OF

I really like this pick. North seems like the perfect leadoff guy. If you don't count his first 2 seasons and his last one where he didn't have much playing time, he had 8 seasons from 1973-1980 in which he averaged a .369 OBP and 45 SB per season. Five of those seasons are over .370 OBP. He never hit over .290 in any season but he walked a bunch to get a high OBP. If he is a 1 or a 2 in CF I think he will be very popular as a leadoff guy in the BTT70's game.

Now that you guys are past the obvious choices the picks are starting to get very interesting indeed!

i,m back. thanks for covering for me.......i like the hawk(carroll) some solid years in the semi-thin world of what appears to be not so dominant relief pitching......

Doh!!! I thought he was my little secret. He's a nice find since he really wasn't on any of the league leaderboards in the 70's.

Good pick, Rigged :x :x

I'm hoping he's got a card. He didn't have one for the 80s but he didn't bat as much per year like in the 70s. I think he'll be a 2 or 3 good year player.

He's got no steals and no extra base hits. Probably just a million walks. I don't know if he was fast or slow or what kind of fielder he was. I don't even remember much about his years as a Cub. Just the name. It looks like he may have had a good arm with the Astros or they ran on him so much that he got a ton of assists. Maybe he played infield a couple of games to get them.

Gross played a little bit of first but otherwise played LF and RF.
I recall him mostly as a slap hitter.

I looked at Gross as well. The TB numbers are [b:2f83852a13]extremely[/b:2f83852a13] low.
