Anyone have any success with Smoltz? Here is his line after 5 starts:

R S7* 0 5 0 0 31.2 44 31 26 15 19 5 7.39 1.86 2R 6.12M

I know its early but he hasnt been effective in any start. If there is a tendency for a guy to underperform for everyone it makes me wonder if the card was loaded properly into the TSN game. In other words, I figure that someone has to load the parameters of the card into the game and might make a mistake by misplacing some of the hits or outs. Not even sure if that is how it is done but find it hard to believe that a good card like Smoltz is still getting smacked around.

he is one of my least fav pitchers. did very very poorly for me. cut him for jeff weaver in mm who did great. I tracked him in all of my seasons and although he had a few good years a few mediocre ones most of his seasons were disapointments

here is an example of a succesful coors team in my league after 84 games
carpenter 13-4 3.93
smoltz 10-7 4.78
peavy 11-5 3.83

nice numbers for smoltz but for the same money just not as good as carp or peavy

another league I am in a 31-32 angel stadium team
zambrano 9-6 3.42
smoltz 5-5 6.27
colon 4-6 5.05

again much worse than zam and more disturbing worse than colon as well

one more an underachieving cit bank park team

dropped after 10 starts 1-6 6.72 era

I'm not a big Smoltz fan either. He's in that second tier where they can go either way. I'd much rather have Lackey and others.

For those starting a league tonight with Smoltz on their roster (like me) here is a ray of hope.

Smoltz and Carpenter on the same first place MM team in a past league I was in:

Smoltz - 21-14, 3.65, 1.30
Carpenter - 12-14, 2.90, 1.18

Johnny just needs a little run support.

I don't really liek SMoltz that much this year, card has too many hr's given up. That being siad, you're right he shouldn't have a 2.01 whip, but in the short run anything can be out of whack. I mean in an ATG3 league I'm in right now, in forbes (all 0's for HR's) Pete Alexander has an 5.47 era and a whip of 1.41 after 45 games!! That nearly impossible to do! Bad rolls are bad rolls...
