Petro was whining before the season even got started, that he wanted a rematch with everyone in the same park because he felt he didn't have a chance in our division. I didn't care for the excuse making but found it humorous as he was in first place at the time...

To his credit he made some incredible in-season adjustments that nobody else had any answers for, and utilized the wild card jinx to make the Finals. I fully expected this to happen, it is very very common.

Petrosian, although a ferocious competitor and an agent provacateur, is a sportsman through and through, and did nothing (and has never done anything that I remember) below board and always wins fair and square. End of story.

As to whether the 9:59 switch is "unrealistic" in terms of "real" baseball- don't be silly- in "real" baseball SP don't get 350 innings and Barry Foote and Steve Lake are not a viable platoon. It's a game, based on dice rolls and cards.

Petrosian just happens to be better at it than most. And he beat one of the best (Joe), "integrity" or not...

Clearly we aren't going to agree, but I think the bottom line is it isn't very good sportsmanship. I don't think it's even debatable.

Just to be clear, there is no doubt in my mind that Petro did NOT change to confuse us. I believe him in that it's his usual procedure. Can we put it to bed now?

Championship opens with a split. The question is can Agate close it out at home with a sweep???? :?

You can't reasonably dismiss a team that will throw Pete and Joss four times in 7 games and who get to play at home 4 times. Grant and Hunter match up well against the Hummers who sport 6 righties. So they'll get 4 starts. But Klippstein is useless against 6 righties and won't see any action. Barber and Ames only go once because of the way the rotation was affected by the five game playoff series, although I'm still undecided, Ames or Hunter for game 7. And I'm forced to pitch Krause in game 5 which is not a good matchup at all for me.

Sweep at home?? First game is against Alexander. My second baseman is out until game 5. I'm lucky I'm still in it.

PS As I considered what I wrote, I decided to switch Krause to game 4 so that Barber faces Joss. I made the switch at 5:32 p.m.

Petro, thanks for the heads up on the pitching moves. I really do believe you.

Sorry for the sweep comment, I just meant that when the team w/o the home field advantage splits the first two, the last thing they want to do is return to the other guy's park. Especially given the home field advantages in the league during the reg. season.

Sure enough, Agate came close to pulling it off, losing only a close 3-2 decision in game 3 when Banks hit a couple of HRs and the Hummers left only ONE guy on base! :o

Now, with the Hummers winning game six at home, they'll have to duplicate their first round effort by winning the finale on the road. They've shown they can do it, but Alexander is better than Dean!

Going to be a nail biter for sure!

Congrats to TKL for winning the title in a close-fought game. Petrosian's defense finally was his undoing. His team had the tying runner at 1B with no outs in the 9th, but Randolph's doubleplay ruined the rally. Good season, all. 8)
