The CD-ROM version comes with some swell stats such as:

Team record vs. LHSPs / RHSPs

Team LOBs (helps when you're fielding a team of power slugs)

Team GIDPs (helps when you're fielding a team of slugs)

RC/27 per team player (nice to see who contributes)

Top 10 X-chances per position (puts the end to who has the best fielding player at the position - the awards sort of do it but just the Top 2)

The list is exhaustive of stats the CD-ROM provides and most are merely informative.

This shouldn't be a hard fix - it comes with the CD-ROM now.

Post a flow chart for the game engine's decision making

I still don't understand why this hasn't, or can't be done. Unless of course it would be to embarrassing for the designer, or there really isn't any . . .

Not that it'll happen, but I like the idea of hiding injuries better. It's kind of weird to be waiting around for an injury, and it's a big advantage to know exactly what cards you have.

There's also been mentioned the possibility of "reverse" lineup options. I think that would be a mistake for the mystery card because it would be a quick reveal for the SP.

I would hate to see anything happen to the injury reveal component of the 80s game. And to improve how that all works, I totally agree that the last 10 games played data should remain on player cards that have been returned to the FA pool. By clicking on the last game, and then being able to immediately check the box score, you can determine if an injury triggered the dumping of the player or not. It is annoying to dig back through the previous team's schedule, trying to identify the game a dropped player last played...there's no competitive advantage to keeping that information so difficult to obtain.

More stats! And please keep the injury reveal. What's wrong with it?

What's wrong with it? It's not necessarily a huge advantage but let's say Dale Murphy is playing great for you and Reggie Jackson is playing poorly. After 20 or 30 games you have to make a decision - unless you are fortunate enough that they both get injured and then you possibly know that you have Dale's bad year and Reggie's best year. Of course it doesn't happen all the time, and many times the "reveal" only eliminates a season or two. But when you have a reveal then you no longer have a mystery card. It just seems wrong that on opening day you are hoping all your players get injured!!

Since the cards cannot be altered the only way to make it work would be for the game to ignore the "plus injury" on rolls - let's say Dale Murphy is injured on a 6 - 12 roll and it is a LO Max plus injury. The game code would have to ignore the "plus injury" but on every roll of 12 on the players card there would have to be a 1/3 change that an injury ocurred and then you would go to the injury chart. Maybe make it on any 12 or 2 roll and then a 1/6 change it was an injury.

Why all the talk about getting rid of the injury reveal. That is not even being considered by TSN. The point is that all the player cards are "mysteries" at the start of the season and the fun is trying to figure out if you have a good card or not. Some of that detective work comes from injuries and some from stats or other rare plays that are not on every card. All of this is the FUN of the mystery card game. Don't change a thing.

Injury during playoffs...

Postby Jimmy_C » Sat Nov 18, 2006 9:22 am

I'd like to see an injury limit (1 game max) during playoffs. Playoffs should be all about the best playing the best, not the dumb luck of the other teams stud or studs being injured for the duration!! I don't get any great sense of accomplishment from winning a championship because a stud went down, and it stinks being on the losing end for the same reason (and it happens way too often). :?

If I win...I want it to be the other teams best on the field, and if I lose I want it to be my teams best effort too...

My two cents...

I would like to see a couple of things - saving the last ten games on free agent players' cards is a real must. One thing that has really bothered me is that if you don't print the opponent's Simpulated L/R Splits before the season ends, you lose this data for prepping for the playoffs. You also have to burn a lot of paper for teams that might get into the playoffs or teams you don't even face. I can't remember, but it seems one of the games does leave the data available after the season ends. Lastly, I really like being able to download players in Excel format so I can massage the data outside of SOM. Hope these suggestions stick.
