GBBR(Good Buds Bragging Rights ) League

Postby Jeepdriver » Sun Nov 19, 2006 9:27 am

Has anyone noticed how evenly matched this league is. I have best record, but am only 2 and 3 games ahead of my next two opponents.

The worst record(s) are not bad at all (37-44). So no one with run-away records on either side, good or bad.

Meanwhile my squad is playing badly, combined with C2 catching fire my lead has dropped to a perilous two games.

I think this team needs a couple of brush-backs to give us a spark. Something at least.

Very tight league.

Whether it's a valid barometer or not, I tend to look at run differential so see whether teams in my division have just gotten some bad rolls.

Big & Sandy both have good RD so I know this one will be a fight to the finish.

Jeep, I would be a little worried.

Is this a valid way to look at your competition??

Stoney, that will always be a big debate in the Strato World. Some Managers regard that (R.D.) highly. Personally I do NOT put a lot of stock in it. Some, but not a lot.

The biggest reason is there are a lot of blow-out games possible in SOM for a myriad of reasons. How many times have you won a blow-out, only to lose two 1-run games?

HAL is also a contributing factor. How many times has HAL mis-managed your pen, causing a blow-out game?

I could go on, but I'm pressed for time right now.

Sure, a good R.D. can mean a good team and vice versa...but don't just conclude a team is bad because they have a bad R.D., or that a team is good because they have a good R.D.

IOW, It's a barometer many times, but not a steadfast conclusion. IMHO. :)

"Almost" another sweep at MM. So in 9 games against Kev the last 5 days I won 5 of 6 at MM and he won 3 of 3 at PNC. Somebody tell me how that makes sense.

Anywho Kev, came up just one run short that last game last night in trying for that 6 of 6.

The Ichiro cycle is nothing to brag about against my team. Most hitters have career days against us.....especially in MM.

I was happy to hold on to the 8-7 Game 3 win to avoid the sweep! I had a 7-0 lead and almost lost it. I had an 11-0 lead against Jeep the other night and nearly lost it!!

By the way!!, what is up with that bleeping HAL? Jenks is my closer and had been pitching brilliantly in the short relief as he is programmed to do. He had pitched 11 innings with 2 earned runs...2 saves....0 blown saves since I picked him up.
HAL puts him in the game of game 2 in the 6th inning of a 3-3 game and he got shelled....I thinkly mainly because HAL had put Jenks in for 4 innings the game before! That is RIDICULOUS!!

OK, breaking my silence...

...But let it be known to the known SOM universe, that in order to avoid the "Curse" of the posting board. The "Jinx" of the trash mouth. The "Back mark" of the Reply button. The "Stigma" of the new post...

...I am dressed as an Alpine Girl, full Dirndl and all and so goes my Catching Jeep Post/tune:

Jeeee-eeeeeepy!

Yodelei-yodelei-yodelei-yodelei-Jeeeeeeep-peeeeee

I'm gonna get me a a first place team, I will, I will.

It's come at Jeep's expense, it will, it will.

I'm gonna catch him with my ace on the mound, I will, I will.

With Dereck Lee a league-BA champ crown, he will, he will.

And with my 3B Bobby Hill... WHAT??? Boooby Hill???... (scratch)

... Sorry. No more. No Gouda.

Everytime I think this team stands a chance I crash back to reality with the awareness, that yes, Bobby Hill IS my starting 3B. all .60 Mil of his.

...and last I checked (5 minutes or so ago) Orlando "Boom-Boom" Hudson had smacked more doubles than Derreck Lee... so... I don't think I stand much of a chance Jeepster... you're just toying with me and Lee.

(HaH! How was [i:f187ac9136]that[/i:f187ac9136] for reverse Jinxing :D )

:? Wait a tic, if I reveal the reverse jinx of a reverse jinx is it reversed back again in which case ... I have gone cross-eyed :? :?

-Tough league indeed. Good one.
