Dwight Gooden(1-0) joined a select group of baseball pitchers in montreal by
tossing a perfect game as the montreal expos 14 defeated the Dearborn Hts
Haters 8 to nothing.

Gooden was just too much for Dearborn Hts. He gave his hometown fans a game
they'll never forget! The montreal players and coaches started to leave
Gooden alone with his thoughts after the game reached the 7th inning. By the
time the 9th inning rolled around, you could hear a pin drop every time he
went to his wind-up - and an explosion after every out. Gooden whiffed an
impressive total of 11 Dearborn Hts batters. montreal rapped out 10 hits for
the afternoon.

Danny Darwin(1-1) was the loser. He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3
innings. After the game, Gooden was heard to say, 'This is something I have
dreamt about since I was a little boy - to have it come true is just
amazing!'
