GBBR(Good Buds Bragging Rights ) League

Postby HUDAMAN » Wed Nov 29, 2006 9:41 am

I keep thinking if I keep my mouth shut things will improve. I'm abandoning that strategy in favor of sacrificing a live chicken and chanting to the Great Spirit.

Which is to say, nothing much is working. I've managed to float out here around .500, but that's probably as good as it's going to get. At least I've learned some valuable lessons with these first few teams I've gotten:

1. Brian Roberts ain't worth the dough. Took me awhile, but I think I've got it!

2. Barry Zito sucks. In his case, E = Evenly bad.

3. Don't take Ortiz first if you are in a league with Jeep. You won't get him... :x

4. HAL loves Eric Bruntlett, so you cannot have him on your team. Period, end of story. I suspect that if your pitcher got hurt, HAL would substitute Eric Bruntlett for him.

5. You need to draft at least one pitcher that can counter the righty stacked team(s) in your league. There seem to be at least one or two in every league. My one success, Cabrera has been very effective.

6. I don't care what the card says...... Chris Carpenter destroys lefties in a lefty park. Not sure about this league, but I've had six or seven lefties stacked against him, and I'm guessing I've been shut out 5 or 6 times by the guy. I'm sure it's a fluke, but I HATE the guy.

7. If you play in a left park, draft Nate Robertson and throw him out there. Don't look at the card, just do it.... :D

These lessons have been expensive, but I'm getting there.

I'd love to try and get out to AZ. My family is looking for a vacation spot during that week, so maybe I can shoot for AZ, since everything else is very expensive. Would love to hook up with some of you guys.

Okay, just checked. Carpenter has shut me out TWICE in this league. Did I mention I hate the guy.

Good point about TRich.....what the heck happened to him anyway?
I haven't met anyone from this SOM site. I got to see FAaron's family via email. Very nice looking family. Fred doesn't look like a lawyer. He looks like a nice guy!
When I got married I sent out pictures via email to my best buds....Pelzer, LM Bombers, and a few others. It's kind of cool to see who I'm talking with everyday.
If any of you guys wish to do so, send me an email with your favorite picture of you and whoever to... kevin.ehle@albertsons.com
It scares me what I might see the rest of this week on my email!
Anyway, I'll be in Phoenix from January 5th through the 8th. 3 months too early!

I honestly had to look to make sure that my team here doesn't play in Coors. And I've had only 2 Coors teams all year. Reason? The scores from my series last night with the Wolverines:

23-9 loss
13-11 win
12-6 win

Wow I scored 34 and AT's team 40. In PNC no less.

I guess the pitchers took the night off.

My team got an extremely rare sweep last night!

I have printed the boxscores, framed them, and replaced my family pictures on my desk at work with them.

I had the weirdest dream...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Fri Dec 01, 2006 12:19 pm

About Jeep, who was in some Central AZ town, waiting for me and a friend(Who I actually think was the tall skinny guy in "Dodgeball" who liked the Russian girl) to arrive and pick him up on our way to some town in Phoenix, (which I assured Jeep I knew my way around like the back of my hand) called LaMirada(Actually there is no such place) and I forgot my appt book and it took forever to get there and then we couldn't find it(Jeep actually had about 90 maps in his possession) and I was looking thru them all trying to find the frigggin town - where we were all supposed to attend a sporting event(What kind of event, I don't remember.)

But it was one of those dreams, where you are trying to get someplace and you're late, but you really don't know where you're going and it is taking forever to get there because little things keep going wrong - mostly because I have somehow fuuuuked things up somehow...Jeep, thought i was really funny, but I could sense his stress about being late for the event...What a weird dream.
