Rule clarification

Postby BC Manager » Fri Dec 01, 2006 11:41 am

[b:61cb8b7957]1. Teams can have no more than 25 players on their roster.

2. Teams can have no more than 10 pitchers on their roster.

3. Teams can have no more than 2 catcher-eligible players on their roster.

4. Any league-eligible catchers not on a roster as of Saturday, December 9 at 12:01 AM EST, become free agents available to any team.

5. Any league-eligible RP’s not on a roster as of Saturday, December 9 at 12:01 AM EST, become free agents available to any team. This applies to RP’s who are exclusively RP’s only (R but not S/R).
[/b:61cb8b7957]

These rules are in place to ensure everyone can field a valid roster. It should encourage teams to trade extra C's and RP's.

These rule only apply to C's and RP's. If you go into the season without a SS, you'll have to live with whomever HAL puts there.

BC, two concerns...

Lets say that one manager ended up with, for example, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. These two teams, between them, only have 20 eligable hitters, and only 2 that are wholey owned.

Unless this team got very lucky in the autodraft, it is very likely that this team would come out of the draft with, maybe 8 of their eligable players, and lets say 7 random other guys.

Two things:

1) you can only drop two players before waivers, so what does this team do prior to waivers, there is no way to release all the players that do not belong to them so that rightful owners can compete for the during waivers.

Which players get released before waivers, as opposed to during waivers could be critical to other teams.

2) It is likely that this team may not be able to get up to 13 eligable players. Then what?

I don't know that we would get int this position, I'm just thinking there should be plan to get out of it.

Yount Fan, I'd be very interested in trading draft positions.

I am at number 9.

I'd also likely be interested in trading to other positions in the top 8, but it depends on who gets taken.

YF:

Great pick.

Being a life long Sox fan, it pained :( me to not pick them. You have a starting OF, SS, C for a whole decade...ultimately I chose the Dodgers because of pitching depth and long term players at all positions (Garvey, Lopes, Cey, Yeager and Pedro Guerrero). I have lat pick in round #2 and I am assuming that there will be little left.

Hak, I'm going to cross my fingers that no one drafts so poorly as to be stuck with both Chicago teams, as much of a novelty as that might be. I think teams are going to be able to field at least 13 eligible hitters. Does anyone have a different take?

As for your other quesiton, I think you have a point. So, here's what I propose:

[b:70fe142cb1]If a team has hitters on their roster that they have no rights to but are eligible for another team, these hitters must be dropped prior to the waiver draft[/b:70fe142cb1] (You can't drop pitcher's prior to the waiver draft, due to roster requirements).

[b:70fe142cb1]If you have more than two hitters on your team that you have no rights to, after the waiver draft, you must drop the two with the highest salaries[/b:70fe142cb1]

One more thing

Postby BC Manager » Fri Dec 01, 2006 6:24 pm

[b:2af63ed220]If you have a player/players on your team that are only eligible for other teams, you cannot trade these players to one of his eligible teams. You can only drop the player[/b:2af63ed220]

That is to say, if I end up with a player in the autodraft that is eligible for both Sean and YF's team, but not mine, I cannot start a bidding war between them for that player. I have drop him at asap, and they can try to beat each other to picking him up.
