New league forming...Vets vs. the rooks!

Postby CHARLESBELL » Fri Nov 04, 2005 10:19 am

Not sure if I'll get a team in today or not, but certainly this weekend. Ya'll have made my draft more difficult since now I have to check body shape to make sure the players will look good in those wild uniforms being proposed.

"Rodriguez steps into the box, his firm biceps flexing within the plum colored sleeves of his uni as he caresses the handle of the bat. He takes the first pitch low for a ball. You gotta like this young, good looking ball player, dressed to the nines and with muscles carved like a granite statue. He steps out of the box to brush some lint from his rakish, fruit filled cap, taking a moment to offer a banana to the umpire. Motioned back into the box, one can't help notice the way his stance highlights his best features from behind. Yes, this is one fine ballplayer. . . . " :P

I'm going to draft Kris Benson so I can take GM "liberties" with his wife!

So far, all I can think of is Darth Vader batting helmets and the Princess Leia get up from Jaba's palace. But only this season, because once I defeat you all and become a Jedi, there will be no more Padowan hazing.

Someone is going to have to suck it up and just call themselves "The Village People." And they can play ball at the local YMCA.

Actually Tyber, they go under the uniforms. But sometimes I like to wear women's on my head after our dates on my days off...I don't know, just something comforting about it...

Actually Tyber, your team is going to have some problems with those uniforms when it rains - kinda like the tin man in Wizard of Oz. When you visit San Fran, we're going to be giving out waterguns and can openers.

So where are the Vets in the East playing? Since you're already locked in and I have offerred my BP.

Personally, I really think the rookies pay way too much homage to the Vets. Respect is a totally different thing. That's something you have to earn and it takes time... But I like the smack...A little indignation is fun.

I have alway had the opinion that winning has to do with getting your players. I tend to win a lot when I get who I draft or WAiver for. not nearly as often when I don't.

The great ones(And I don't consider myself one of them) are masters of adapting to whatever the situation and still get it done. IMO, that is what separates the good from the great.

And the way to get very good at this is to play as many of the great ones as you possibly can.

Just my 2 cents.

Can you imagine the season ??

This is the reason I joined this League. Look at all the chatter going
on and we haven't even started yet. I can just imagine some of the
off the wall trash talk we'll be getting, before, during, and after each
series against some of these sharp-toungued devils !!
Hell, reading this thread is better than 98 % of what's on the TV !!
It's great seeing so many folks involved.

I'm gonna have a hard time matching any of these uniform designs,
where are you folks from ? Hollywood ? My team will be hard pressed
to come up with the amount of cash it's gonna cost to "dress" your
players.

Hollywood? Puh-lease! Seems to me we're just a group of guys with too much time on our hands, but we click. It's my first private league, but now I see why so many people play the private leagues. Definitely more banter back and forth in this league than I have ever seen before, and none of those guys who think having their caps lock on looks good. LIKE THIS.

To me, there's nothing more fun than a group of people who can all take a joke. That's great stuff.

Homage? what do you mean homage robo? oh I see...you think these little figurines and pictures of you vets are in your honor, as an homage?! these are no tribute-statues of you as idols...these are to remember how all you vets looked like before we made Bantha poodu out of you! before we kicked you hard and repeatedly so nasty and good that now you all sound like Frankie Valley and look King Kong's butt after a king sized "kong"!

How was that? Trying to build my trash talking you know...it's spring training after all!

Hollywood? I got your Holly-wood right here! (too much?)

O.K...time for tea now, jolly good. 8)

BTW, I saw an early design of the Chippendales designed protective cup my team will be wearing: Its blue and it has Superman's logo on it. Apparently the ladies love it when Superman's logo is shaking like crazy to the beat of Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive", which we'll play in my stadium during the seventh inning "stretch"...hey ty, in case you can't get the g-string over the plate, would you...just for the ceremonial first pitch...you know...wear Superman's cup...and if possible, you know, like Rob does...over your head? -It would really mean a lot to my Little Red fans!

My road uniform makes all my players look just like Jessica Rabbit...and something tells me that you boys are going to like that! That was no banana that A-Rod offered...and that wasn't the Ump either, that was my catcher!
