SOM taking orders for 2006 ratings book & disk

Postby visick » Wed Dec 06, 2006 6:33 pm

To build on what stoney said, the book breaks it down position by position, vs. R/L who the top OB, TB and HR guys are.

It's also broken down by team.

ie. You are looking for a 1st. baseman, that hits LH's better. You want a high OB guy or TB guy...the book has the info.

Hersh, when you go to the link that soca kindly posted, do a search on "ratings." The book/disk will come up at the bottom of the search result page.

I think of the disc and books in this manner....

Those you choose to use them represent the Billy Beanes of Strat...# crunching souless minions of Bill James..but hey thats okay.

Those who do not use them represent .... say.... the Branch Rickeys of Strat....gut instinct talent recognizers...you know....more of a pure baseball approach.

The book/ratings disc is extremely helpful, categorizing the players for you.

I think it's an invaluable tool.
