Good People Rd #2......Rules and Chat...

Postby The Biomechanical Man » Tue Dec 05, 2006 5:10 pm

Bobby,

I think I'm the one missing something. If two teams finish tied for a spot, then we use head-to-head record as the first tie-breaker; I get that.

What if three or more teams finish tied for an advancement spot? Do we still use head-to-head as the first tiebreaker? If so, how do you look at head-to-head for three teams?

Let me make up an example: [quote:c7541f22ec]Memphis, Atlanta, and Nevada all finish 81-81.

Memphis was 8-8 vs Nevada
Memphis was 10-4 vs Atlanta
Nevada was 14-7 vs Atlanta

RS-RA
Nevada was 700-700
Atlanta was 750-680
Memphis was 710-715

If they are tied for sixth best record, which team advances?
If they are tied for fifth best record, which two teams advance?[/quote:c7541f22ec]

Good question Bioman, league #1 could have the same problem. Hopefully Boby checks in soon.

I've been out of town all week so I'll look into your question. Until I come up with an answer, then my advise is to continue to win games.... :D :D ...Bobby

4. Tie breakers for the 2 best record teams are first: head to head meeting and then if tied then the second tie breaker is run differential (Runs scored less Runs allowed), then a coin flip if we need an additional tie breaker.....

If the head to head tie breaker doesn't clearly allow one or two teams to advance then the secon tie break comes into play whereby seasonal run differential will determine the winner. lastly, if there's still doubt then coin flip(s) by myself will judge who advances.

To look at the example here's the solution...

Let me make up an example: Quote:
Memphis, Atlanta, and Nevada all finish 81-81.

Memphis was 8-8 vs Nevada
Memphis was 10-4 vs Atlanta
Nevada was 14-7 vs Atlanta

RS-RA
Nevada was 700-700
Atlanta was 750-680
Memphis was 710-715

If they are tied for sixth best record, which team advances?
If they are tied for fifth best record, which two teams advance?

The 1st tiebreaker elimates Atlanta...and between Memphis & Nevada...Nevada would advance because run differential was better than Memphis (0 vs. -5). In the seeding between Memphis/Nevada, then Nevada is seeding higher due to run differential being better following the 1st tie breaker being even at 8 games apiece.

Should the three teams not have produced a clear cut winner for the 1st tie breaker, then 2nd tie breaker determines the seeding. In the end a coin flip will always produce the winner(s)....Hope this helps...Bobby

League No. 2 has two division titles and the wild card undecided going into the final night of regular-season play, but the six players advancing to Round 2 are set. We were a little better at sharing the wealth than League 1, sending two from each division.

Hakmusic, errormagnate, agabriel, tycobb11, treyomo and I will advance. Congrats.

Bobby,

I think the winner is always listed first, so I assume Adrian is the Central division winner in League #2. Of course it will be good to get confirmation from someone in that league.

In any case, what's next for the tournament? When will we start Round #2? Are Rounds 2 and 3 going to be something differerent, or same ol' $80m non-theme leagues?
