I'd like to run a league where each manager gets ownership of players from a specific team (example: I draft DET, I get all players with 3 years or more on in DET on their cards). Each year, though, the manager must draw players from a second, randomly chosen team. So, say I draft CHC as my team, I carry those players with me each year. The first year I run, I receive San Diego as my random team. I must then form a roster of players from CHC-SD for that year. The next year, I might get lucky and get, say, the METS (assuming no one owned them).
The ownership of the original 12 teams is static, but the second team changes every year. Ownership of players is determined by the # of years the player has on the card with your team. 3 or more, he's yours. If the player has 2y with one team 2y with another, and one with a third, ownership goes to the first 2y team named on the card. This is for AUTODRAFT ONLY. Once AUTODRAFT is done, players can be picked up if they appear on your "team screen" (meaning if a player with only 1y with my team is left in the FA pool, I can pick him up during waivers or frenzy).
Franchises would be carried over from year to year. Managers would ALWAYS retain the services of any players 3y or better for their franchises.
I haven't figured a random way to do the leftover (non-drafted) teams yet, but I figure I could just designate a list of 1-12, with two teams always being left out of a particualr season (rotating these teams, of course). We would then run a draft lottery, and the order in which the lottery falls would be matched with the random team # to see what additional team you got to work with.
EX: I have CHC, and lotto for TX. My lotto number places me 7th for the first season. On the random list, the #7 team is CWS. I must now create a team using the CHC and CWS.
Inceoption draft is two rounds. First round=pick teams. Second round=reverse order, pick unique ballparks.
