2007 range ratings posted

Carlos Guillen is now a "2" at SS with this hitting line...

153 543 100 174 41 5 19 85 .320 .400 .519...and 20 SB.

That's a very nice SS option.

Jeter rating

Postby ArtemusRex » Fri Dec 15, 2006 5:53 pm

I am looking forward to having both Ichiro and Crawford on my draft card next year. Hopefully, Ichiro won't disapoint at the plate at half the stadiums as last year.

But the one that no one has brought up is Jeter inclusion as a 1 defensively. This will stir up that hornet's nest once again from both sides of the Jeter defense question. Maybe Hal finally had to give in as Arod turned into a defensive pumkin at 3b. With his improved defensive rating and his performance in the AL MVP race, Jeter's card might be upwards of 8-9mil next year. The only stat to keep him down is HR's which went down. Since most players in this game seem to flock toward power and an increased price tag, Jeter should be more available next season a la Brian Roberts.

Actually, he could be worth more than Roberts from this year. He's a one at short, which gets more opportunities than 2B, plus has an identical OPS to Roberts of last year with a better OBP. In isolation anyway, he's better overall than Roberts of last year. He may end up with a similar or slightly lower value, though, because offensive numbers won't be quite as valuable as last year due to there being such poor pitching and such good offense compared to a year ago. Pitchers with identical stats to last year will be priced higher this year and hitters with identical stats will be priced lower.

Pujols in a 1... like his bat alone did not already make his card awesome

Endy Chavez was a stud in leftfield in his limited duty in 2006. I'm glad to see that he got a well-deserved lf-1. I'm sure his awesome homerun-robbing double-play catch in the playoffs against Cardinals didn't hurt his strat rating either (although the Cardinals still won in real life).

Chavez is a defensive stud. Strat awarded him what he deserved. This past season, he also wielded a better bat, which didn't hurt his cause.
