Does this team win?

As usual, i'll face a lot of lhp and LHH. Any thoughts on Tejada? I drafted last so i was hurting at the typically thin positions. I'm fighting with myself on keeping A. Ramirez too. I'm playing at Citizens with SBC, Bank One and Shea. One more Shea and 2 Millers in the league as well.

So... Can I win with this bunch???

I don't think you win with this bunch. You simply don't have enough BP HRs in your offense to win in your park.

You also have too much $ sitting in your starting staff with guys whose value you cannot maximize. You are mixing * pitchers with non * pitchers which you should only do when your non * guys are pure matchup guys. You can't get Jaret Wright's full value by mixing him with a couple of * guys.

The team does not look like a disaster, but it doesn't look like a champ to me. Go get some HR's in your offense and good luck.

My 2 cents

Dump Ford for more BP HRs. Drop SP down to 4x4*s. Drop the 5th starter down to a .50 cent guy. Get a third reliever-he doesn't have to be a stud-just servicable. Upgrade C power (Buck? Torrealba?).

Then pray like hell it all works.

Westbrook has to go, he has too many hr's vs lefties to work in your park/division. Also W Williams should go to, preferably for another rp.

also, I have not seen a good season from C Lee yet (maybe someone else has) and you only have 3 lefties (and harris is utter crap vs lefties). I would try to get another decent LH hitter for your DH, Mabry? Branyan/Giambi platoon, someone who can jack some out.

Thx for the input guys. I actually got Ford to be a viable lead-off/two hitter with Kots' and thought i needed more OBP at the top. Do you think i should get rid of pitching to get slg cinsidering the pitchers park tilt this year? I just worry I can't compete unless i have some reasonably strong SP - that and the fact that i drafted so low, there are few hitters left.

Geek - i would love to find a place for Westbrook but when i drafted , pitching was GONE. Should I dump him and just hammer up - go for penn and SLG?

I agree with the idea of reallocating your budget so that you maximize you investment in pitching and not have any vaulable $$$ sitting around while the team you field struggles a bit. I think you need at least 1 more big gun and a bit more OBP

Watch out for Mientkiewicz, whenever I've had him on my banch, even as a def rep. for 1B, HAL still loves to use him to PH and them putting him on 2B with his amazing 5e41 rating.

Tejada is a strange cat, I've seen him have really good season in teams that are kind to righties and bad to so-so seasons in stadiums that favor pitching, even if slightly. His errors were killing me the only time I played him to the point that he ended up DH-ing

The last of trouble but one worth mentioning is your defense. Those errors between huff, a-ramirez and rowand, you'll let a few too many drop or go by, playing in citizen's I'd try to keep runners from getting on base as much as possible, as opposed to a petco where I can afford a mistake or two since it's less likely it'll come back to bite me. Just my opinion, hope it helps. good luck.

thanks again guys. It comes down to this because of the crappy draft... i know i need LH hitting. In that regard it'sa matter of dropping Ford (better D, OBP and speed)
OR...
Lee (much better power but I'd have to play his 4on D in LF)
AND... Pick up Derazo as DH (in stead of Lee but another LHH). Of course in doing so i have to step down in SP (propably loose Westbrook).

I know - i'm toast.

PS Uribe is out there if I really want to go crazy and dump SP for hitting...

I've used Mientkiewicz before without ANY problems as a back up @ 1B. Have him checked for defensive replacement @ 1B, and leave your PH's blank.

My 2 cents...
