ATG Barnstormers Tour IV Finals draft and chat

Postby The Last Druid » Wed Dec 20, 2006 8:45 am

Also, I never said "I couldn't fit the league in now." I just didn't think that starting on Christmas was a good idea. I hoped it would be postponed until after the holiday's and then posted again as soon as I learned when waivers were to be held. My issue is simply wanting a level playing field. I won't be back home until next Wednesday and won't have reliable internet access when I am away. Any of my prior posts on this thread were my grousing about length delays in the draft.

This is my first time in the Barnstormers Tour and I never raised even the spectre of not playing if the draft was held on Christmas or the waivers held when they are now planned. I don't think the fact that there were problems last year with the timing because of S.L.'s depression has necessarily much to do with this years tour. People are just not starting leagues right now, just read the boards. I just don't think a league of this magnitude should be started the biggest holiday week in North America. But if it is, I will still play, that was never on the table.

Petro, for the record, I did send a PM to Mighty Moose asking for back-up in firming up the league timetable. It is difficult to accomodate the schedules of 12 different people scattered across this country and Germany. A fill date of Sunday and a start date of Jan. 1 seemed to satisfy the requests to avoid a Christmas start and allow the maximum opportunity for all managers to find adequate time amid the year-end bustle to tweak or rebuild their teams as they see fit. Moose did back me up. I am glad you were able to load your team.

Good points by all who posted recently. Regardless of religious affiliation or ethnicity, this is historically a time of peace and goodwill. Those themes run through the posts made overnight. I concur. Let's finish the league, enjoy the upcoming days with family and friends and savor the challenge presented by this group going forward.

Treyomo to finish the East...

Guys, Beach asked me to help move this thing along and I did what I felt was necessary to quickly curb any further delays. If you felt it was too harsh, I'm sorry.

As far as the reference to OT, I'm afraid it was probably unnecessary to air that out, as only he and I would know of the difficulties we have had over various issues during the course of the tour.

The goal here is always to keep everybody moving, and during the tour, to keep all 4 (or 5) leagues on track to start at the same time. This can be challenging when a draft gets slowed or stalled waiting on the same person draft round after draft round - or when loading leagues. The contact information used this year was a tremendous help.

Anyway, like Beach said, it's that time of year when we need to focus on more enjoyable family reflections.

Good luck to all in the finals.

MM :D
