Hey everyone!
This little announcement won't make a big difference to any of you, as you didn't have a reason to believe otherwise, but SportingNews.com has signed me on for another full year to continue to run Strat-O-Matic Baseball Online. 2006 was a big year with significant accomplishments, ranging from a huge speed optimization to nightly league processing, to our biggest game launch ever, to the debut of the Lineup Depth Charts, and I'm proud of how far we've come since the days of waiting up until 4am for your draft - remember there were no waivers way back then - to run.
That said, there's a whole lot more I wish I had the chance to do; everywhere I look in the games I see opportunities for improvement. Fortunately, by extending my contract TSN is giving me the chance to tackle those things in 2007, and I'll definitely be swinging for the fences this year. I'll even take a pop fly over the Green Monster; just as long as it leaves the yard.
I don't have a finalized plan for what I hope to accomplish in the coming year, but I can at least informally mention some things I do intend to put significant time towards:
- Long overdue improvements in computer manager logic; greater control for you
- Improved credit transfer process: use your SOM team credits for ANY SOM game!
- Improved prize awarding process: how about redeeming the credit(s) you won [i:96793b370a]yourself[/i:96793b370a]?
- Flash-based live draft that interfaces with the game
- More robust community projects
Well, that's it from off the top of my head; it's all subject to change but if I had my way these are the things I'd like to get done this year. On behalf of SportingNews.com, the Strat-O-Matic Game Co., and also my own family, I'd like to thank you for playing Strat-O-Matic Baseball Online.
Here's to a big 2007, and I hope you have a happy and safe holiday season!
Bernie H.
