HBP on hitter's card only?

I'm coming across this scenario in a 70's league but it applies here as well... is it only possible to ever get a HBP off of the hitter's card? I have a batter (Jose Cruz BTT 70s) who only has a HBP possibility on his worst year and not on any other year, and he got a HBP, so I should already know what year he has... except through the first week he is hitting the cover off of the ball (in his crap year he hit .227). So, I am wondering if there are other scenarios where this could happen that I am not thinking of. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

HBP is only on hitters cards.

Also...a hitters bad card can overperform as easily as a hitters good card can underperform.

Very true about the over/underperforming, and as long as I am winning I am not going to mess with a good thing. Just wanted to make sure I had all my bases covered. Thanks.

You might try to trade Cruz while he has good stats. If he is playing with a poor card his stats are sure to go down sooner rather than later.

I'm sure dealing a bad card will endear you to other owners. Be careful, there aren't that many serious players and if you get a rep for ripping folks off...

That did occur to me Wilee, and I am the type of guy who will usually volunteer what card a guy is or might be on when I discuss trades. Because I like to trade and like to deal with anyone I usually find that honesty is the best policy.

Update: I rode the Cruz hot streak for a week while my team got off to a great start, then dropped him after he began to cool but well before the 95% salary period ended. His replacement, Gary Matthews, while not usually a leadoff man, is doing quite well. Thanks for the input, all.
