Would YOU accept a trade in the 70s Mystery Game???

I've made a few trade offers in my 70s league, but they were rejected. I don't blame the other managers, as in some cases I was pretty convinced I had a clunker of a player. Which made me think...

Would you ever accept a trade offer in a Mystery Card game? Or would you always be skeptical that the other manager figured out his trade bait is a rotten tomato?

You'll find more trading goes on in the mystery card games than in other games. You have to do a little research to find out if a card has been revealed. The reveals are often not that revealing. (ie., and injury on a LoMax could often be several different cards).

As long as you have the time to investigate the potential player(s), it's probably worth a look.

I'm not sure I understand the premise. Why wouldn't you accept a trade in a mystery card game? If you have a strong pitcher (whether revealed or not, usually, not), wouldn't you trade him for some offense, if needed, and vice versa? I don't get it.

I trade all the time in BTT80's. For example, as the season gets going, you find that you are strongly biased one way or the other, or you suddently have a hole to fill somewhere, and there is nothing on the FA, so you need to give up some talent to fill a hole.

I find I am much more active in trades in mystery games than in ATG.

I average between 1 and 3 trades each season in mystery card games. Often times before play begins (when it seems more managers are open to the thought of trading) and then in-season after I find out my teams strengths and weaknesses.

I think the key to winning is the quality of the adjustments you make during the season, and trading is just as big a part of that adjustment strategy as the FA pool.

I see managers start off very hot in a league all the time, and they don't make the post-season. Why? Because they were sitting in the drivers seat early and failed to make any adjustments at all...until of course after the 84th game or so when they all of a sudden found they slowly slipped to around 5 games out of first. :D

I try to watch the transaction list and pick up players who have been given up on and can be difference makers. On my current team, I picked up Brett and it turned out to be his 1.025 card. I also noticed that someone dropped Gruber and it was his best card. I kept Gruber and dealt Brett for upgrades at 2 other positions. The team has a .695 winning pct after 110+ games. Trades can be instrumental in solid team making, but you have to offer value for value (consistently) or no one will make trades. This of course was in the 80's game and I intend to maintain my strategy in the 70's league.
