Bobby and Boni ROCK theme league

Postby NEILKAHN » Mon Nov 07, 2005 11:05 pm

I have returned from the Vegas trip, and what a great time!!!I can not say enough about the graciousness of our host for the reception/poker event Friday, the Party Saturday, and the Brunch Sunday, Bobby and Boni. I am extremely chagrined that we overslept the Limos on Sunday and missed the Brunch. OK, let's be honest here, Jennifer overslept. And then when I got her up, finally, she got ready , finally, at about 11:02 and we missed the limo. What is it about women, anyway, that prevents them from getting out the door expeditiously? And subsequently makes them pissed at US for their being late? Anyway, I was particularly sorry that I was not able to spend a bit more time with our hosts. What a fabulous job they did. The REAL story , as opposed to my tongue in cheek version in the other thread, is as follows. I first got to meet the folks on Friday, the night of the Poker Game. Bobby{ and when I say Bobby here on out, I also mean to include his lovely wife] booked a suite at the Orleans and laid out a great spread. I was unable to play in the Poker tourney, due to the U-2 Concert that night, but it was great meeting everyone. As I recall, Paul"AceVentura"P. was the poker champ. I think I was able to gain some support for my long proposed Tragic Plane Crash initiative, inspired by my many losses to Paul's various Twins teams, in which one team, upon unanimous vote of the other 11 managers, can be wiped out from the league. I missed the Subsequent 3AM bowling, which I believe was won by MunichMan, although he may have been disqualified due to his unfair advantage of bowling in Lederhosen. I must admit I am not sure I am remembering correctly who won the Golf Outing. I think it was Rick, again, but perhaps one of the participants can confirm. Saturday night, Bobby hosted a party at the Foundation Room atop the Mandalay Bay Resort, again, fabulous, elegant and delightful. I was pleased to be able to chat a bit with Boni, although I was hoping to really spend a bit more time getting to know Bobby, but as I related in the previous thread, oopsed on catching the limos. Dugger came to my rescue with Bobby's number, when I was, typically, not foresightful enough to request this in advance, anticipating the possibility that through NO FAULT OF MY OWN...well, perhaps I contributed a bit keeping the woman up late, but LARGELY NO FAULT OF MY OWN, we missed the limo. I do hope that I get a chance to express my appreciation personally at a future gathering. I was told the Sunday Brunch at Bobby's was equally fabulous. I wish to emphasize, as well, that my proposals to Bobby...my business proposal for a joint venture idea for Strip Bowling, and my seperate request that he adopt me, were entirely tongue in cheek.

Now to express our appreciation, I propose the theme league advertised for this thread, with the following guidelines. I fully expect all of those fortunate enough to have enjoyed Bobby's hospitality this and or previous times to participate. His 4 male children are names John, Bobby, Jenya( a Russian equivalent of Gene, I think, with a first name of Joseph) and Bogdan. Each team must have one player with each of these first names, but not more than one of each so that there are enough to go around. Bobby gets first pick on his four, revealing these before the draft, so that others do not draft them. Obviously, any of the derivations of John( Jon,Johnnie, etc.) or Robert are fair game. Either Gene, or a derivation of Joseph can be used. Obviously the pool of Bogdans will be small, although Dan is acceptable, as is Wade Boggs, or any player with letters BOG in their name. In the event there are absolutely not enough of these, we can give an extra selection derived from the name of their daughter, Tira, which was based in part on Teodora, or derived from Theodore...so Teds can be used as an alternative to Dans. I propose this be 80 million, no DH, but I will of course defer to Bobby if he has any other preference, or children I am not aware of.

This is really unfair. I am trying to focus on my teams for the morning review of the previous night's carnage, but I am still on Vegas time and it is 4 in the morning. I can barely process the results, and have a strangely blase' attitude about it, anyway. I withdraw all of the kind things said earlier about Bobby. This is entirely a plot by Bobby to have us get so sleep deprived that we are unable to responsibly manage our teams in the leagues we are against him. :)

Nevdully was not there, further reinforcing my conviction that he does not really exist, and he is, in fact, a computer generated construct of TSN and the SOM Computer Matrix.

Hi muttdoc,
I will be honored to be part of a league that involves my precious sons...Count me in. 80M, no DH, etc...whatever....Let me give you their names in order to pick players....

Robert Henry
Jonathan (Jonny) Kent
Joseph Jenya ( Jenya-- version of Gene/Eugene)
Thomas Bogdan (Bogdan--version of Dan)

Of course if we include Boni then it's Boni Lynn...... I'll check into the thread daily...Thanks for the nice words...Bobby

If we use both names the pool should be ample, but I still think we should limit the teams to no more than one each of the players with those sets of names until after the draft, to ensure an adequate supply. After draft and waivers, then the entire pool will be open, but each team MUST retain one each on their final roster. As before Bobby gets to make his four selections known before the draft, and these players are off limits to the other players. And Bobby, as further bonus, you can, of course, rank them last, giving you a better shot at some of your other picks! I will create the league tonight, with password.
