A review of the exceptional teams in 2006

Postby Detroit-Tigers » Tue Jan 02, 2007 4:48 pm

Oh, and BTW-

I think the research is interesting, but not ground-breaking. I think a major reason for the $32M/$48M is that many people use 14 hitters and 10 pitchers. (A major reason, but not the entire answer).

The same with the ballparks (not sure it is much different from the population).

The more $ of hitting in hitters and more $ on pitchers in pitching park makes sense though.

Well, let me give you one clue right now.

Together, these four players are getting paid roughly 20M (plus or minus 1M).

So, Tiger, you need to increase your salary load.

Here, I will help you a bit by providing the "ALL-STAR" list. This list includes the players that got themselves on the 2006 dominating teams the most often, per position!!!

Congrats to Tigers for finding 2 all-star players in Willis and....Alex Cora!!!

Congrats to Bombers. Three of his nominations make the All-star team. Ortiz also makes the All-Star team with 14 occurrences. Floyd is a popular choice!!! He does make the all-star list, but failed short from getting 20 nominations, with 16 occurrences. Wagner is the most popular closer.

Santana falls short though from making the All-Star list. He got 14 presences, though: not too bad.

Nomination Position

16............ C (vs lhp)
15............ C (vs rhp)
12.............1B

Congrats. You got 2 out of 3!!!
Astonishingly, [b:71c703ab52]Clemens [/b:71c703ab52] that many considered badly overpaid (including the author of this line) is the SP that appears the most on the 123 highly successful teams that I scanned, with 20 teams!!!

Abreu has appeared very often, with 16 teams, but is second to another right-fielder.

And Mullholland appears on a surprsing 19 teams!!!
