Little advice for the Rookies out there

I have noticed that there have been a few more rookies (newbies)
to the game lately and they have been concerned with leagues not filling quickly.

First- Do not set up private leagues with passwords unless you have a good number of players that have agreed to join PRIOR to setting up the league.

2nd- The autodraft leagues that are open to all are gonna fill much quicker and usually fill in a day maybe 2. (I have never had to wait more than a day.)

3- There is a way to check for leagues forming BEFORE you actually fill out a draft list. The "TSN_" leagues are open to all and you can check to see how many people are in them by clicking on "SEE WHAT LEAGUES ARE FORMING" before clicking on GO DRAFT

4. The more basic league is gonna draft faster. The Standard DH 80M leagues are most commonly used and fill much faster than the 60M and 100M leagues.

5. After joining a league, you can come back here and Post your league and the number of people needed to join. For Example: TSN_5642 Needs 3 more to draft tonight.

Hopefully this will help you along the way and It will also attract some of the Vets out there who like to pick on the Newbies. (In a nice way).

This will also be a great way to gain some experience and learn some tips and tricks to the game from some of the more Veteran players.

A side note to this. By doing this you can see who is in a league already. The ranking really isn't that important, it based off number of games played. Some people with high ranking aren't very good, some with low rankings are very good. Also you can look to see if "Puckin Drunk" is in the league to make it easier for you to win :P ;) (you know I'm just messing with you Bodie)

Man, I just noticed my old buddies, Puckin, Chiro, and Geekor names again. It seemed like I was in leagues with you guys all the time. However, lately, I haven't seem much of you guys. Perhaps you are afraid of me!! :wink: or perhaps you don't like me :cry: or perhaps it's just a coincidence :? !! Either way, let me know what you guys are up to and invite me into one of your wacky leagues! :D By the way, I'm a rookie. The 5 stars only means that I am a 5 star loser in SOM!! :(

Hey Kev,

Long time no talk,

I have noticed you out there, but I think you have been playing ATG more lately.

I gave it a shot, but wasn't having much success.

Also 70's got a few teams there, but again, not much success so I have been trying to get myself into the top 50 on the '06 game.

By the way, you and I are tied at 57th.

I have 6 or 7 teams going right now and hopefully will break the top 50 before the new '07 game launches.

I noticed that Frank M hasn't broken into the Champs column yet for '06. (always the bridesmaid, never the bride with 9 playoff teams and no ring)

Maybe we all should do a final '06 league before '07 and give everyone one last shot to make fun of us before we conquer the new game. :roll:

Geekor, LM Bombers, Frank M, Socalchiro, Puckin, Ehlekev, Doc Tax and some of the other usual suspects and fight it out one last time.

I figure we have to start a new league in next two weeks to have it finish around the same time the '07 game launches.

Hey Kev, wassup?

I was getting frustrated towards the end of the year in 2006, so I really cut down on the teams. 2006 started off great for me with 5 of my first 7 teams making the playoffs, then the wheels fell off.

I'm only playing lately with the Voyage series guys. (akindian, the splinter, Frank M., mtarbell etc...)

Been doing my homework for the 2007 season though... :lol:

I might still have been playing if my last 3 teams didn't flame out in the semi's. I got really burnt out from constant bad rolls for me in ATG3, and am pretty much phasing that out of my rotation. I'm pretty burnt out in general from SOM, and am not putting any more $$ in until the 07 game. I don't do the mystery card thing.
