AM-NAT FINAL DRAFT (what will the next wrinkle be?)

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Honest, quick question....Seems like w/FA there is no right

Postby AdamPhoenix » Thu Nov 10, 2005 11:56 am

of first refusal and this the quick get their players. Is this correct, or am I missing something about if an owner wants to sign a FA but that FA only played less than 3 years for that owner's team, the owner who may have him for more years on that card is reserved the right of first refusal (i.e. kind of how MLB's post August 31 deadline works).

Just wondering?

There is no right of first refusal

Postby honestiago1 » Thu Nov 10, 2005 12:27 pm

After autodraft and waiver period, ANY player that appears on your "by team" screen is fair game. The only players fully protected are 5y's. That's why you have to be careful about dropping 4y's, 3y's, etc. The whole "ownership" aspect, regards number of years actually played for only relates to the autodraft phase, and that is only because we had to establish a way to own players so that we wouldn't draft each other's guys.

We are going to have a waiver period but can't claim any players during waivers. Is that right? :?:

No waiver claims

Postby honestiago1 » Thu Nov 10, 2005 12:34 pm

No claims during waiver period, due to the fact that all of us are getting the players we want. Trades are acceptable. As soon as free agent period starts, you can pick up players on your team screens.

I'll take the first NL team. It was a hard choice. There were 2-3 teams that I thought were about the same.

Well, i'm not going to second guess anyone, especially someone who has been playing this a lot longe rthan I have, but who else besides me is a little surprised that Pittsburgh was the first NL team taken?

I just liked it when I saw I could get: Van Slyke, Dave Parker, Madlock, Bobby Bonilla, Tony Pena and some good choices to pick from for my rotation in Jose DeLeon, Drabek, Reuschel, Rhoden and/or Candelaria.

I think we all look at different things when evaluating these teams. I didn't have Oakland in my top 4 and I still had several teams rated ahead of Detroit so every owner is different.

I am sure many of you let out a sigh of relief when I took the Pirates as you may not have even had them in consideration for the first round.

I admit it

Postby honestiago1 » Thu Nov 10, 2005 1:09 pm

I'm gambling on certain teams being available later, and, from what I can tell, there are 4-5 teams I can match up with DET. It'd be easy to screw up, though, I admit it.
