Tonight's Top 10 List

I have had at least one team in each TSN SOM offering and have the following observations:

1. ATG 1 & 2 are the best offerings because of the deep player pool, great community, and the opportunity to still create a competitve team even if your draft sucks

2. 1969 is a bit disappoitning even though it was my first set of cards to ever buy and I voted it over 1961.

3. BTT80's is actually a cool concept. It provides the depth of ATG and provides some sometimes tough managerial decisions if your not sure what card you have. Wouldn't a BTT60's be cool. Or 70's for that matter. Which Maris do you have? 1961? or 1968? Maybe a BTT50's...

4. ATG is still better because you KNOW what card you have.

5. 200X is not as good because the current real life players are not that great of a group of all around good players. There are a few great ones, but 2005 had too many lopsided players to even think about putting together a good team wihtout a perfect draft.

6. ATG is better because of Eddie Collins, Hank Aaron, and because I haven't figured out 1969.

7. ATG is better because of the continued involvement of all participants in the message boards and the altruistic sharing of strategy and information. Look at 1969, it's board is dying. Look at Fanta Sim. It's board was DOA. For that matter, FantaSim was DOA.

8. How can ATG1 or 2 come from the same brain as FantaSim?

9. I miss TSN SOM football.

10. Have I mentioned the ATG community?

9.

Good list John, hard to argue with any of the points made on there.

Disappointed with the 69 game, love the mystery card element of the 80's but still prefer ATGII as the top game. If the 80's player pool was a bit deeper, it would give ATGII a closer run for its money IMO.

After experimenting with all the games, I'm now down to just a rotation of teams from ATGII and the 80's. Eagerly awaiting the finish of a couple '69 leagues Im in ... even though Im in 1st place in one.

Have to agree with those sentiments re: ATG2. As for the '69 game, my interest waned quickly. I have four teams running, two being theme teams. W% is lousy, even though 3 of the 4 teams are within 5 games or less of 1st place. I just can't get excited about it. Even when my teams resided (temporarily) in first, I found myself apathetic. I barely even check the results now, maybe every other day. Not sure why. I think it's more the ATG2 game being so much more interesting to me, then it is the 69 game being that bad. Anyway, I don't forsee myself creating any more 69 teams once these four finish. Found the same true with the 200x games, where I ran 1 or 2 teams of 02-04. As for the BTT80's game, I have never tried it. Been tempted at times, but the Mysery Card concept never thrilled me, I guess.

Mod:

You should try the 80's, so that you won't have to speculate as to how much the Mystery Card stinks.
