well Mora seems to have helped, Wizards took 2 out of 3 from me. It is not unusual to drop a player and improve in 60 mil, but I think the Wizards are at their limit. I dropped Leiter and got a LT starter and RT starter for the money. It is clear the Ada Aces are the team to beat in my division and I had to change my arm ratio in order to even PRETEND to have a chance.
This is not the normal 60 mil league, usually more money is spent on offense. Even I spent more on pitching than I like, what was I thinking. :?: I would have dropped Leiter before the season but Brown got snatched up and then not released until after my season started.
I usually do not play in PETCO and I never will again unless I go back to very cheap pitchers and lots of offense. that is doubtful, I just put together a team for standard league from all I learned in this league. You guys are on the ball.
In 60 mil leagues, I have noticed the arm of the pitcher (LT or RT) comes into play more than in other salary levels. Usually one great pitcher and one great hitter is ideal, like Santana and Guerrero. Ah, but it appears that a Santana, Clemens, and Guerrero team is even better.
Crawford is doing way better than I have ever seen before so I would not count out the Wizards unless they continue to drop.
Personally a Lidge is too expensive for me in 60 mil. Isringhausen and Smoltz is usually the most you have to pay for a closer. I think Brad doesn't see game 142 for you, no matter how much he turns around. I'd go with Cordero and buy even more offense.
One strong move is usually okay to get away with in 60 mil. I was 6-9 when I dropped Leiter. I had miscalculated the LT/RT arm ratio for winning, thinking I would need more LT starters when I really needed another RT arm. Hence, Brown is in with Wolf to replace Leiter's LT arm and 16-11 is the result. I am going to have to change my intentional walk settings, which I almost NEVER do, to see how they work against the Aces, but I doubt anything will help. I will have to do alot of injury manipulation just to stay at .500 and be happy for that.
I lost my last game and Kevin Brown gave me 8 innings of relief with no earned runs, lost on a Todd Zeile pass ball in the 19th inning. I probably would have lost the game anyway as Brown starts the 9th inning of relief tired/fatigued but that is the cost of having Todd Zeile to play first, HAL sticks him in as a third catcher....oh well.
The season is young. In 60 mil leagues I have seen a team go from 13 games under .500 at game 81 all the way to the world championship. The right tweak changes everything.
