Defense at SS: Wills vs Concepcion

Defense at SS: Wills vs Concepcion

Playing in $80mill, no dh league in Riverfront. Half the parks are extreme pitchers parks & the other half are neutral to extreme hitters parks. M Wills is the current SS & he has 5 errors thru the 1st 15 games. Is this a trend I should expect to continue? Will the errors slow down? The only other option is to drop him & pick up Concepcion. (I only have 2.7mill to work with.)

Also, what is the probability of Concepcion playing a full season & getting 600+ ab? There seems to be trade-off.

starters: Bench c, Cooper 1b, Doerr 2b, Rosen 3b, Wilson cf, Rice lf, Aaron rf.

pitching: Seaver, Carlton, Gibson, Lonborg

RW, for the most part, Wills seems to disappoint most owners. That's why he's often on the FA list. However, 5 errors in 15 games is just the luck of the dice leading to poor rolls. I would stay the course for now. Too early to drop him. While Concepcion is a better fielder, he's no star at the plate. As for whether you might get 600 or better ABs out of him, it's more luck of the dice. You might, it does happen. Then again, you might see him miss 20-30 games. Wills won't miss the games, that's for sure. Reevaluate around the 60-81 game mark. I can't see either player being the cornerstone of your teams success, so no need to make that move right now, and take a cap hit, IMO. Good luck. :)

I'm a Wills backer . Depending on the park he's a great value . He's rated at 26e , so is Yount and Ripken . You have to expect some errors . He brings to the table alot of runs due to his speed . A solid 70 steals . Bat him 1st or 2nd vs LHP (depending on park ) . vs RHP (depending on who else you have ) 1st , 2nd , or 8th . In the 2 whole he has great bunt ability and the speed to break up DP's . Nuetrals and hitters park very good O , pitchers parks not so much . Keep him and deal with the errors , everyone makes them .

p.s. He's hit 1 HR for me on 2 different teams both extreme hitters parks . :)
