PLAYOFF POINTERS

PLAYOFF POINTERS

:?:

I've got a Wrigley team finishing up the regular season tonight, and I'll be facing a Shea team in the first round...the teams are mirror images. I'll only have 2 of 5 at Wrigley. My only lefty starter is my #5 guy, Wolf. I'll keep him to start in game 5 at Shea if need be. Maddux goes great at Wrigley, so I'll keep him for home. Question is, should I keep El Duque or Halladay (my 2 best guys) for a Wrigley start, starting Prior at Shea in the 1st or 2nd game? Load up at home? Probably better than blowing my 2 best starters in a park I'm not so well designed for? Any pointers on hitting at Shea? I'm very righthanded in the batting department, though Bonds is lurking there on my roster, and several of my righties are hitting lefties well...any advice will be much appreciated. Playoffs start Monday night.

My first two games are at Shea, so I don't want to start Maddux there, too many BPHR on his card against lefthanded batters, and Shea loves the lefties...the ball park effects at home at Wrigley make his lefty BPHRs no problem. And playing a Shea team, it is stacked with lefthanded batters, so no Maddux there! I figure I'll start Halladay and Prior Monday night at Shea, and hit 'em at home with El Duque and Maddux after that. If forced to a game 5, I don't mind starting Wolf at Shea, as he is a lefty at least...

well if you dont have a stud pitcher to go games 1 and 5, you want your best pitchers to go in game 3. This will (assuming your best does what he should do and win giving you lots of quality innigns) rest your bullpen for the final 2 games where they will be needed more.

your rotation for the playoffs will depend on who pitched games 161 and 162 of the season when using 4 days rest SP.
If Prior and Halladay are rested for games 1 and 2, save Maddux and El Duque for games 3-4 at home.
