bobby i have had mine done years ago by a dr that services the toronto bluejays here in florida during spring training. i must be honest and tell you i have tissue damage and bone spurs. they actually film the operation so you can watch later. it was o.k for the longest time but recently i getting the same pain again. but this time its do to the movements of my profession. my arm movements are left and right not over the top. we play in leagues together and made some blockbuster trades. haha so you can trust me. get it done if it gets to the point your movement ability suffers. just make sure you take rehab seriously. its rehab that will bring your movement back after surgury. if you need to chat with me by phone ill give you my # if you wish. either way good luck and if you need anything at all let me know o.k. .

Thanks everyone for the input...I am determined to get this done because it's affecting my quality of life. Plus, my 2 little ones, Jenya and Bogdan want to be thrown around and in the air by their dad and they sure are entitled to that joy. Even though I had that negative remark at the baseball field the other day, it has not deterred me from moving forward. Heck, who knows, my pitching career may be starting again soon...lol,lol :D :D Again, thank you for the comments...Bobby

Knees are shot, but luckily have no experience rehabbing shoulders.

Good luck tho, and don't let them skimp on the Vicodin afterwards.

Best of luck, Bobby. Never had shoulder surgery, so no knowledge/input to add. Sounds like you got some good advice from some of the gang, though. Any surgery is scary, but if it's affecting the quality of your life, I think it's well worth the risk. One of the best things about my day is tossing my grandson up in the air, hearing him squeal and laugh. I know where you are coming from. Do your research, but get it done. Your boys will thank you, and you will thank your doc and therapist, I am sure. :)

Get into a physical therapy program as soon as you can! Recovery will be very lengthy if the muscles become atrophied!

Regarding the pain with the surgery. I would like to add that with most rotator cuffs you have persistant pain, even at rest, including aching pain when lying on your back, hence the pillows under the arm when sleeping which I suspect you have already discovered helps to cut down on ache at night. THIS pain goes away quickly after the surgery. The pain you get after surgery is with motion, so not continuous.

Bobby ... I know several people who have had shoulder surgery..not a one of them regretted it, and none of them had any problems with it other then the soreness the first few days. Don't think you will regret it for a moment. Good luck with it and hoping for a speedy recovery for you.
