Question about Douple Plays

Question about Douple Plays

Postby xtrap » Wed Feb 07, 2007 11:35 am

I'm having a pretty good season but I have 3 guys in the top ten in Double Plays. Is there any way I can help them out by maybe moving them around in the order or being more aggressive with base running? Or maybe having them H&R more? Not really sure what I should do other than not draft these guys next season. :)

Thanks.

DP Prone

I would H&R more if the batter only if the batter was rated at least a C in a pitcher friendly park - a B in a hitter friendly park.

I would try not to place a double-play prone guy right behind a guy with a high on-base pct (especially a singles type hitter).

Bat one of your double-play prone guys lead-off. I have a 1-13 runner batting first (and it's worked out well) and of course, that eliminates one at bat per game without any chance of him grounding into a DP (this is even better when you have pitchers batting 9th since they'll rarely be on base when the lead off guy gets up. This would probable be the better of the 3 on base guys, unless that was also one of your best 2 power hitters.

I agree, get your OBP guy in front of the pack and his DP's won't matter nearly as much. Watch that 2 spot though, you don't want a really high DP guy in that slot.
