Just to put us over the top

Just to put us over the top

I am pretty new to Strat and as our league approaches it's midpoint I was wondering if any Vets out there would be interested in helping a rook out. I am currently in first and in the most competitive division. I just dropped Pedro and grabbed Clemens last month and it helped bolster my pitching. My team is still blowing a lot of saves, but I have my team set to pitch complete games pretty much always. I am playing in Turner, so my teams batting numbers look lower than advertised.

-COUPLE OF QUESTIONS-
1) Who makes it into the playoffs? Division leaders plus one wildcard?
2) Should I make any moves for the stretch run?
3) My team is weak against Righties and I'm killing lefties, should I do anything about this?
4) Have I made obvious blunders that I should avoid in the future?

I know it's a lot, but I REALLY like to overanalyze. And for those who say dropping Pedro was stupid, he was my number 1 and he was 5-10 with over 30 homeruns given up. He just wasn't right.

Well .. .for what it is worth ... I think you're missing saves because of your closer (Eddie Guardodo isn't the best). Also, I think your hitting is actually doing better than expected ... Your team is due to come down to earth.

but take that with a grain of salt ... as I'm just a little more experinced than you.

1) Who makes it into the playoffs? Division leaders plus one wildcard?

Yes.

2) Should I make any moves for the stretch run?

Owners should make moves with the 80% cap for 2 reasons imho.
a - improve team
b - prepare for playoff opponents

So if you feel moves will either improve your team and/or get you ready to compete in the playoffs, then yes. Just remember for every 1m you release you're only getting back 800k.

3) My team is weak against Righties and I'm killing lefties, should I do anything about this?

Considering you're only seeing 25% LHP then yes that might be something you'd want to find a way to improve, if possible.

4) Have I made obvious blunders that I should avoid in the future?

It is always advisable (imho) to have at least 1 solid closer or setup man. Since you have neither therefore your pen is your weak point. Check over the course of the season and see how games were lost in the late innings. Since you don't have any 1 range fielders, the weak pen may be costing you more than you think ...

Good info to know. We kind of had to piece something together at the start of the season- We were second on the waivers and missed nearly all of our picks. I feel pretty good about the team that has been assembled. If anything, it was a great way to start me off on strat. Thanks for the feedback.
