The 8 man/$7 mill challenge, V2.0 Chat Thread / Draft Order

Postby Blutarsky » Thu Feb 15, 2007 9:08 am

Fellas, I'll be posting the Pick 3 draft order tonight as they become available. Hopefully we won't be seeing any hangups, but some states are slower than others.

I want to hear what you guys think about draft time. How much time does someone get when they're on the clock? I've said before that I want to keep it relaxed, but not TOO relaxed, if you know what I mean. Nothing's more maddening than being next up and having to sit in front of your computer for half a day because some guy isn't checking his draft status. My personal vote is for something around the 5-6 hour range, with the understanding that just because you HAVE that much time, doesn't mean that you gotta use it.

Guys, this is key: [b:a299fe454c]I need cell #'s and email addresses.[/b:a299fe454c] This is not so I can bug you or sell your information or anything else like that. I need to be able to manage this draft, however short it may be, so that it keeps moving. If you're up and your time is running out, I'm pretty sure you're going to appreciate that phone call that keeps you from getting skipped.

Also, I need to know who will be able to help with proxy picks. To those of you that don't know, a proxy pick is a draft pick that is entered by a second party because the owner that is up is unavailable. Example - I'm going to work, and I'm going to be there for 8 hours, but I'm four picks away, so I'm probably going to be up, so I email Coach, who has agreed to help me with Proxy picks. I give coach a short, 3-5 man list of ranked draft picks, so that if I come up before I'm going to be available to make my pick, Coach can do it for me. Proxy picks are [u:a299fe454c][i:a299fe454c][b:a299fe454c]KEY.[/b:a299fe454c][/i:a299fe454c][/u:a299fe454c] (Note the emphasis...) If you believe that you will be available from time to time to help by entering proxy picks for people, please let us know on the thread here.

Any other questions, feel free to drop me a line. I'll post the Pick 3 numbers as they become available.

-Pete

Rules & Regs, For Quick Reference

Postby Blutarsky » Thu Feb 15, 2007 8:32 pm

[b:ac7b1ed643]**REPOSTED FROM THE ORIGINAL THREAD**[/b:ac7b1ed643]

Piggybacking on Rabid Wolverine's genius stroke of eliminating the "luck" factor of the autodraft in the $200m league, I'm trying to get another league started with a few little modifications.

The basic premise is this - if every team is limited to no more than 4 hitters and 4 pitchers over $7 million, the question of luck coming into play is, for the most part, eliminated. Here's the specific rules:

Prior to the start of the season, each team will have no more than 4 hitters and 4 pitchers over $7 million. After the start of the season, owners may have the option of shifting their roster to include any combination of $7+ million players (ie 5 pitchers/3 hitters) as long as at no time do they go over more than a total of 8 of those players.

 Team drafting will be done starting with a live 8 round draft. It'll be a slow draft via chat thread. The time limit is TBA, but I'd like for it to be slow and relaxed. If it's only 8 rounds, there's no need to feel under the gun to get it done too quickly. After the draft we'll load up and autodraft all of our <$7 mill players. It's entirely possible that through the autodraft, owners may unknowningly pick up ineligible players. It's expected that if that happens, the owners in question will, when able, drop those players from their teams prior to clearing waivers.

 The live drafting will be done via a snake draft. Draft order will be randomly determined by a Pick 3 Lotto. If you're signing up, make sure to pick a state that does a Pick 3 Lotto and list it next to your name. In the event that you've picked a state with two daily pick 3 drawings, we'll go with the last drawing of the evening.

 Each team will also draft a unique ballpark in the fourth round, along with their regular player pick.

 The divisions will be set according to draft order in this format:

East-1,6,7,12
Central-2,5,8,11
West-3,4,9,10

 As per league vote, this will be a DH league

 Not sure if I covered this earlier, but post-autodraft, the league will go to waivers to help balance the playing field for guys with different work schedules, time zones, etc.

 Also, please PM me with any extra contact information that I could use to get a hold of you, in the event that a problem with the draft comes up. Email is good. Cell #'s are better. I promise that I have better things to do than sell info to spammers/telemarketers.

 Like I said earlier, please make it known if you are able to help with proxy picks. It'll help keep things moving more smoothly, believe me.

This should be fun, guys. I'm looking forward to it.

Pete use www.vibration-science.com it is an hour or two faster than yahoo. Illinois pick 3 is 847 for Thursday eve, TX, is 176. Arizona is still waiting. Vibration-science gives you the state website for the lotteries. Again, I bet yahoo won;t have Illinois or TX till almost midnight central time.

Thanks Coach. The post above is edited with the current numbers.

I'm looking around on the link you posted and I can't find where to get the Pick 3 results. The AZ lottery website doesn't have any info yet either. I'll keep sleuthing around and I'll get it up and running pretty soon.

We'll keep this thread moving for chat. Here's the link for the draft thread:

http://forums.sportingnews.com/viewtopic.php?p=1664778

Please help keep them separate so that the draft thread doesn't get too cluttered up with other stuff.
