Five starting pitchers??

Five starting pitchers??

Postby ///Matthew » Wed Feb 21, 2007 11:06 am

Will the system allow you to make a trade that leaves you with only 4 starting pitchers, but enough money to acquire one?

What if the trade is accepted late at night, will your games play as scheduled?

Thanks

Nope, you must have 5 pitchers with SP rating on your staff.

So it would veto the trade and not allow you pick up a starter afterwards??

correct. if a trade leaves you with too little money or an invalid lineup (per TSN requirements), the trade is invalidated and cannot be accepted. any trade that is invalid should say invalid when you either propose it or when you read it (if someone proposes it to you).

That stinks. It should recognize you'll have the ability to rectify the situation after the trade.

You have the ability but will you? When will you?

It's safer to not allow an invalid lineup that deal with the issues that come up if you didn't.

What about this senario

What if you have 23 players:

Can you waive one to pick up someone else? Because once you waive him you're down to 22 players.

You'll never have 23 players, you must have a minimum of 24 (in 2006 game). When you "pick someone else up" you're either adding a body (changing your roster from 24 to 25) or you're swapping a body (roster stays at 24). You cannot drop (or waive) a player without keeping the roster at 24 players.

Prior to 2006, same rules apply except that the minimum roster requirement is 23.

If you have more questions, hit the HELP tab, then see the RULES/FAQ dropdown box. Here's what it says about 2006 rosters:

[color=darkblue:e0e45153eb]Your Roster

At all times, you must have at least 24 players and no more than 28 players on your roster.
You must have at least 13 and no more than 17 hitters. At least two of those hitters must be eligible to play catcher.
You must have at least 10 and no more than 12 pitchers.
You must have at least 5 pitchers who have starting pitcher Endurance ratings (for example: S7).
You must have at least 4 pitchers who are "pure" relievers (i.e. a relief rating (e.g. R2) but no starter rating).
You must have at least 1 pitcher who has a closer Endurance rating (e.g. C4). [/color:e0e45153eb]

OK, sorry 24. But my question remains the same.

Can you waive #24 and THEN pick up his replacement?

Or must you pick up #25 and then drop #24?

You pick up then release, but if you try to release if will make you pick one up before performing the transaction.

So yes, you can drop a $5 guy and pick up a <$5 if you have no cash left.
