What is wrong with this team?

Postby longgandhi » Sat Feb 24, 2007 9:00 am

I realize I'm probably going through a really bad run of luck but I can't figure out why this team is so bad.

Any suggestions/critiques would be greatly appreciated.

ERRORS are killing you....You have 29 errors in 30+ games..10 by pitchers and 19 by position players.........Your outfield "E" ratings are BAD...Starting an outfield with e12, e13, and e16 are gonna make a ton of errors...Three of your four man rotation also have high e ratings...Hitting a little over .200 as a team is not helping either...The big thing is don't start dropping a bunch of players or you'll get worse quickly. Try to make a couple of trades...Can you post your lineups..A position change here and there in your lineup can really help also.

And speaking of errors, I did have Duke Sims as my primary catcher but through 33 games he had committed 10 passed balls (as well as having a batting line of .153/.274/.234). So even a guy with a pretty good rating (at least regarding passed balls) was having a terrible season.

I agree that errors (particularly in the outfield) have been a problem. But as a point of reference, this team has committed the third fewest errors in the league so far.

In the starting staff, I tried to focus on guys who didn't have a lot of home run rolls. Should I sacrifice some of that in order to get a more sure-handed fielder?

Only thing I see that I think is definitely wrong is Wilson He will probably lose 25 games in Fulton if you keep him

I think you still have a lot of upside potential left with Petrocelli, especially in Fulton.

A lot of quality free agent hitters left, if you want to eliminate your platoons and balance your lineup.

If Dick Hall's still available at RP (I can't tell)...replace Tatum with him to free up more money, so you can focus on replacing Wilson at SP. More salary available if you replace McDaniel and Podres with extreme guys. I don't think you need more than McMahon and Tatum (or Hall) as >$1M RPs.

Try to deal Wilson and some other unused salary hog to the Clueless Ones to get some salary relief, then pick up the best overall SP with the fewest BPHRs available. Trade first, then as a last resort cut a poor performer or unused salary hog and get someone that A. fits your stadium B. Fits your division.

Did someone honestly suggest you get rid of Tatum in Fulton County? They must be in your league if not in your division.

The only way I'd replace Tatum would be with Hall, and THAT'S only because he has to patch up other shortcomings. It's all relative...a trade would be best, but in either case, he's finding close to $2M in salary to fix his team.

If it were a perfect situation, Tatum and McMahon would be ideal though.
