Players you most covet

Who are the players most coveted in ATGIII? Based on performance for price, what players would you want on every team if it were possible. I've been thinking about this and would like to know what others think. For me, some top ones are:
Ty Cobb
Max Bishop
Ken Holtzman
Sal Bando

I'm sure there are others, but for now, this will have to do.

I agree on Cobb and Bando, but most leagues that I've seen have Holtzman on the waiver wires the entire time and I don't recall anyone using Bishop for an entire season in ATGIII.

How about Larry Bowa, Milt May and Lloyd Waner in the bargain category while sluggers Roger Maris, Don Mattingly, Richie Allen and Jim Rice join studs Frankie Frisch and Ron Guidry amongst the most popular players in ATG III?

Thanks for the input. Guess I overlooked Maris and Mattingly, 2 guys I've had on teams and who have both done very well for me. Never tried Bowa, great defense. Waner has not been available forme to get. One player rarely taken in the leagues I've been in is Gherig. Mantle, Ruth, Mays, Brett are almost alway taken. Would he be better off around $11M for what he gives you? Teddy ballgame is usually out there too.

Gehrig's price is correct. His card is wrong. He should have more extra base hits added.

Gehrig always puts up monster numbers, but there are so many excellent 1B's out there at cheaper prices, which makes him less popular. (That's why Mays, Mantle, Brett, DiMaggio are used more frequently. IMO, the position is a defining factor).

I would bet he's a top choice in any $200 milion league, where salaries do not really matter.
