What I do with my pen is this : Depending on my SP but on almost all teams I go Closer regular ,SP on Conservative ( let them pitch ) . I do not list anyone at set up or anyone as closer . This way Hal uses who he feels is best for the job at hand and there are no restrictions on who to use . Your individual settings on each card will determine who Hal brings in , hopefully . This is not a foolproof method either . Hal can still screw you up easily but the odds are diminished.

Example : Let's say you have on the individual cards :

Valvarde : 2-3 innings max Dont come in until 6th
Nathan : 1-2 innings max Dont come in until 8th
Putz : Avoid LH Dont come in until 6th
Myers: Avoid RH Dont come in until 6th
Ryan : 2-3 innings max Dont come in until 6th

Now Hal will use from the 6th to the 8th-9th the 4 RP as needed and bring in Nathan in the 8th -9th . By not listing anyone you've taken the restrictions of those designations away and actually made it easier for Hal to make a sensible decision. This is how I do it , it works for me but results may vary .
