Just wanted to know if anybody has seen Santana pitch this bad befor' He is not living up to his card at all. So far he's pitched in 4 games he's 0 and 3 given up 18 ER and 32 hits in 25 ins ERA of 6.40. Dude, it's 4 games. Cards don't instantly go bad; a good card's a good card. Someone asked the same about Clemens the other day asking if they should drop him. These guys are 8-10 mil for a reason...over the long haul their cards will approach their statistical norms for the most part. Of course, the ideal for Santana is a pitcher's park with those BPHRs, but he'll still be fine and win 20 games for you.
These starts will help balance out the next 4 complete games... :wink:

I'm tied up two games apiece in the finals tonight, and I'm facing Santana again in game 5...and if I can somehow beat him I'll eat my hat! Guy's fearsome out there. Hold tight or you'll regret it! :twisted:

Sheets started 0-6 in one season for me, but still finished 22-16. Johan was AL Cy Young with that card - he will have a great season for you.

It can happen. I once tried him as the ace of my staff and he proceeded to lose two games for every one that he won, so I unloaded him in a deal for Clemens. I played in Petco at the time and had an excellent defensive team behind him, but he had a freakishly bad season. He did finish the season as a .500 pitcher once he was in a division that faired poorly against lefties.

I had RJ earlier this year start the season 3-8 and went on to finish 24-15.

Percival is not the ideal closer @ Turner.

I would have gone with, say Wagner or Guardado. Even a RH closer WITHOUT BPHR's to lefties would work.

I have had santana three times. Twice he was very good, better than his card. however I have him now at Miller and he is not doing well. He is paired with Schmidt and Clemens. Clemens is a disaster 1-11 ERA 6.72(the first time for me Clemens has been bad) but Santana is leading the league in HRs given up and has been inconsistent, he is:

with a team of 2s and 1s up the middle (for the most part- I do some platooning). he had one game where he gave up 11 ERs in 7 IPs with four HRs. He also has had some great games.

My team is hitting poorly so in some ways it isn't santana's fault. But I did expect more from him at Miller. I hope for the best and plan on just keep picthing him.
