Shootout at the OK Corral

Postby The Last Druid » Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:16 pm

Me and Doc could play for the loser being banished from the boards for a specified period of time. Just a thought. Or we could have the loser agree to be nice to the winner...

PBTR: Actually I was thinking that whoever has the highest pct. after the series can declare themselves the Supreme Ruler of the Universe. As the manager of Large and In Charge, that should have some appeal for you.

And yeah, just one team at a time.

I'm cutting back myself. I have 52 currently active (six in the playoffs) and I have no teams at all ready for next week. And it's almost Wednesday. I really want to cut down to about twenty. If only I can get Frank to join me; sort of like mutual disarming.

[quote:67afe60bda="Petrosian"]Sounds like you just earned an invite to the OK

I accept. Pretty much everyone is a thorn in my side. Penngray's the biggest. Rube's another...

[b:a2ecade4ba][size=18:a2ecade4ba]Tombstone Ten[/size:a2ecade4ba][/b:a2ecade4ba]

Here is my proposal:

Ten Leagues each season after League #1 will begin forming on Monday following conclusion of regular season, so there will never be 2 regular seasons in session at the same time. 10 seasons all participants agree to stay for following or else get an acceptable substitute if cannot continue. Munich Man and Petrosian are irreplaceable. Either can end the league by refusing to continue, this is highly unlikely I believe.

[b:a2ecade4ba]Rules:[/b:a2ecade4ba]
1) [u:a2ecade4ba][b:a2ecade4ba]3 championship minimum to join/replace into league[/b:a2ecade4ba][/u:a2ecade4ba]

2) [b:a2ecade4ba]Gkhd11a, Petrosian and Munich Man will all be in same division throughout tournament.[/b:a2ecade4ba]

3) [b:a2ecade4ba]Other 9 participants will rotate divisions[/b:a2ecade4ba]. MM GK and Petro will be in west 1st league #9 to sign up will be stuck with us. I will develop schedule to maximise the chance that all will play everyone else at some point. For the second league #9 will move to East #8 to West and #4 to Central.

4) After 9 leagues all will have been in division with MM,GK and P. At this point the 9 leagues will be scored via the Stratomatic ranking system. The [i:a2ecade4ba][b:a2ecade4ba]lowest rated player [/b:a2ecade4ba][/i:a2ecade4ba]will join the West for league 10. The Central will be the 4 highest non-egomaniacs and the East will be the next 4 rated non-egomaniacs.

5) [b:a2ecade4ba]Winner of the contest [/b:a2ecade4ba]will be determined by the total ratings as used presently in Stratomatic ratings. Winner will receive Tombstone DVD starring Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday.

6) The 10 leagues will be as follows:

League #1 80Million Waivers NO DH

League #2 80 Million Frenzy No DH

League #3 80 Million Waiver DH

League #4 80 Million Frenzy DH

League #5 60 Million Waiver no DH

League #6 80 Million Frenzy no DH

League #7 80 Million Waiver no DH

League #8 100 Million Waiver no DH

League #9 80 Million 2 Round Live Draft Waiver No DH

League #10 gkhd11a, Munich Man and Petrosian 70 million cap limit at all times - honor system worked well before in a league Munich Man and I were in. All other players 80 million cap limit 80 Million Waiver no DH see point 4 for divisons.

How about league 5 is a 100 million? I suspect many players might not want to committ to a 60 million cap.

We should also disallow any trades between the three of us.

everyone already knows you 3 do well in 80M leagues.... should add a 50M league in there too instead of doing away with the 60M one .... need to take you guys outside your comfort zone.

Yeah but this isn't about how others view us. It's blood feud, Shootout at the OK Corral. To me it's about excellence where we normally compete. That is why when I issued the initial challenge it was for all 80M no dh, 5 waivers 5 frenzy, ground with which we are intimately familiar.

But pursuing your line of thought; how about each of the three of us has to use a different stadium for each league? Or we could do a season in 2005 or 1969 for that matter. I'd do any of those ideas in a minute but my point is I want to beat Charlie where he is most comfortable, not take him outside his comfort zone. So let him use Griffith as much as he wants. It is not about who is the most versatile, at least not for me. Not this time. Instead it's about different philosophies about how to create and manage winning teams. Oh yeah, and who's better head to head, mano a mano. I prefer 80 M, but I don't mind 100M teams since we all play those. But I've never had a desire to play for less than 80M and still don't.

Also, if ATG III comes out before we finish all the seasons, we should use that format for subsequent seasons.

ahh...ok i understand. See I was thinking more along the lines of getting your other 9 players. I mean whats the draw for the other 9? Why would 9 others commit to 10 leagues knowing that they are going to be in 10 straight leagues with (perhaps arguably) 3 of the top 10 managers in ATG? I'm not on an ego trip, and don't really give a hoot if 250 guys here build good teams. I play for fun and a chance to win. The elite managers all have a great winning % and I would just as soon join leagues that they aren't in........ not because I am afraid of the competition, or afraid of losing....but because I don't need it proven to me 10 or 20 times that some guys bulid better teams then I do...I already KNOW this, but because I would like to play a few leagues with guys of my own talent level....kind of like you guys are trying to do here. However its next to impossible when you have a select few guys with lots of money and time, and great wining %'s that join every league started.I can't remember the last time i tried to join a league that didn't have petro-frank or nev in it or 2 or 3 of them ...LOL.
