Bruce Sutter sets a new SAVES standard...

Postby bjs73 » Tue Oct 18, 2005 9:59 am

Sutter becomes the first reliever to post 60 saves in a season.

Not too many relievers qualify for Cy Young awards in real ball and I know that many people (including a lot of Sabremetric people) like to downplay the importance of a save but getting this kind of production out of 73 appearances is great. He didn't lead the league in save percentage though but he did play a big part in preserving 66 (6 Wins) out of my 95 victories. That's huge.

Thanks for maintaining the record database Moose.

Moose,

I'm not sure if this counts, since it required extra innings, but two teams scored 35 runs in a single game.
