Any thoughts on my first ever Strato team?

Christy rarely pitchers his card and in that stadium you want a guy with some BP HRs that will turn to outs-- Dizzy Dean would be ideal type.
Also, with 4 * pitchers, spending money on a 5th starter is not efficient use of cash.
I would recommend dumping Hiller and Wilson for a good LH starter such as a Whitey Ford< Harry Breechen type, Lolich will do very will in your park especially with alot of lefty Hitters in div.
Same cash situation with Kaline and M. McCormick--would suggest turning them both in for a .50 OF and the a good LH hitting lefty fielder, you need one more lefty bat, also McCormick and Kaline both have the 15 game injury risk (have under 600 PAs)
Look to see if McCloskey is available or someone similar.
Mike Scott is excellent choice for your stadium.

Thought I'd mention - in Strat the HR's he loses just turn into outs...

Keller is one of the best values, but you're at the Dome...

I didn't have time to look at your team yet, just wanted to welcome you, hope to see you in a league soon.

Why McClure? You have 4 starters, a fairly pricey bullpen. He isn't very good anyway. The money could be better spent elsewhere, perhaps even upgrading Klippstein. I'd also use Fosnow or Taylor before McClure.

I think that your original outfied would have been superb in a homerun oriented park. Given your present park, I think that Keller was a good pickup. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Slaughter or Flood and might try to upgrade one of them. I'd do a Bake McBride /Jay Alou platoon in right before I would use Slaughter. Generally you want a rightfielder that has a strong arm. On throws to third base, HAL adds plus 2 to the RF's arm. Slaughter is a good player who isn't great at anything, except not getting injured. McBride's arm is even worse than Slaughter's but he is a more legitimate offensive threat. And there are a bunch of guys that platoon well with him for little money:Clines, Kuntz, Alou, Roenicke, Brouhard for example.

Dom Dimaggio would be my choice of CF's for your park, in the medium priced salary range. I'd rather see a Geronimo/Lemon or Geronimo/Kuntz platoon than have Flood.

Depending on the other parks you'll be playing in I would try to get pitchers that give up more ballpark hr's (#) on their cards. Scott works well there. Relative cheapies include Cuellar, Boyd, Drysdale, Hunter, Knepper, Kaat etc. Their pricing is based on their overall performance. Because the vast majority of their #'s will be caught in the 'dome they become excellent values in your park.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your first strat team.
