Stratomatic Superstitions

Superstitions – Baseball is full of them. And for me, so is Stratomatic. All of my teams are named after music groups and I listen to their music while drafting and whenever the team needs a little extra “help” during the season.

The power of that tradition came home to me with one of my current teams, the Alpha Omegas. I joined the G-Men Challenge league, agreeing to limit my players to those with names starting with A or O, with thinking about my team name. To my surprise and horror, I had no music to match! Dismissing Aer O'Smiths as a possibility, I tracked down a London-based reggae group called the Alpha and Omegas.

The Alpha and Omegas went 6-21 and lost 13 in a row during their first 27 games. Then it hit me – I didn’t have any of their music to “help”. A quick stop at Amazon and an express shipment later, three CDs arrived this Wednesday. That night, the Alpha Omegas swept three games – before I even had a chance to listen to the CDs. Last night, they took 2 of 3.

I too name my teams for bands . Movies and weird names fit the bill also . Since I'm realitively new to this game , I been playing pretty much the same park with the same type players , tweeking the pitching staffs each team . So far so good .

Team names : Fear Factory , Double Trouble , Faster Pussycats , Black Label Society and Salty Dogs .

I look up teams in the same order from day-to-day if I am on a good streak.

For example, if Team A wins a series, tehn I look at Team B and they won their series. Then the next day, I will look at A, then B until the the winning stops.

Also, If my legs are crossed and the results are good, I keep my legs crossed the next day. When the luck changes, I put both feet on the ground...
