American & National League Two Team League LEAGUE IS FULL

Postby LMBombers » Sat Nov 26, 2005 9:19 pm

I’ve participated in a similar theme in Back to the ‘80s and think it would be fun in 1969 and it offers a different twist for those who want to try something new. Claim two clubs, one AL and one NL, and use players exclusively from those clubs.

Franchise draft: $100 million cap with no waivers, DH, password. Serpentine draft order determined through lotto numbers (Pick 3, night drawing where applicable, high to low) of the state declared upon sign-up. Each owner selects one team in each of two rounds, one from each league. If an NL team is picked first round, an AL team must be chosen in the second, and vice versa. At the end of the second round you must have one AL team and one NL team. You must chose the ball park from either of the teams selected. The name of your club will indicate which teams are yours, with the city determined by the ballpark chosen (For example, if you selected the Giants and Red Sox, and wish to play in Candlestick Park, then your team is the San Francisco Red Sox; if its Mets and White Sox and you play in Comisky, its the Chicago Mets). Divisions will be determined geographically according to home parks.

Auto-draft: You may only select players from the two teams you drafted. There is no restriction on how many players from either club have to be included on your roster.

Free agents: There are no free agents. There are only players on a roster and the players that aren’t are considered in the “minor leagues” for their parent club. If a player from a drafted franchise is released, he must remain a free agent unless reacquired by that franchise (for example, if the San Francisco Red Sox do not draft or decide to release Rico Petrocelli (yeah right!), he may not be signed by another team and would be considered to be in the franchise’s minor league system).

Trades: Trades are not allowed at any time. This is a true two team league. There are two full team rosters available for you to make your one roster from so you should have several options. There will be weak positions for most of the teams so don’t worry about not having an all-star at every position because its not gonna happen. A fun and strategic part of the draft is to try and match up the holes from your first team with strengths for your second team. For example if your first team is weak at 2B and LF then for your second team try to pick a team that has a good 2B and LF.

Here are the breakdown of teams and parks by League. The first two numbers after the park is the L&R BP singles ratings for that park. The 3rd and 4th numbers are the BP HR ratings.

If 7 or more people who sign up would rather have no DH we can change it.

Suggestion...

With each G.M limited to his 2 teams the cap should be raised to 200 million. This will allow for the full use of the 2 rosters.

Thanks for the suggestion Splinter. Since this is a DH league I will compromise on the Salary Cap and raise it to 100M. I don't want the owner who gets Baltimore  to have too great of an advantage which I feel would be the case in a 200M league. With 100M any two teams should be able to field some quality players.

I hate waffling after rules are stated but since I did on the salary cap I would like to bring it up for a vote from everyone who has entered that has an opinion. Personally I can live with it either way.

Do you want a 80M cap or a 100M cap?

Assmeriten has already expressed his feelings.
