[quote:1a57969ccf="Ducapa"]Didn't know we had any rules about drops. If it is a problem for people, we should have made a rule at the beginning. The players that get dropped are made available again so if somebody really wants them, they can find a way to pick them up, right? Anyway, sorry if that was a problem.[/quote:1a57969ccf]
No that's not the case. 1st of all, the player who gets dropped will not necessarily be available by the time he gets around to a manager's next pick (ie.. in my case I can't grab Cuddyer with my 16th round pick because I need to pick my stadium... but perhaps I would have grabbed him with my 13th, 14th or 15th round pick had he been available at the time). Secondly, we build our draft strategy based upon who the other manager's have selected and by who's left available in the player pool. Dropping a player just because a manager changes his mind does more than just change his roster, it also effects the rest of the league in their draft selections.
I guess I just figured that it goes without saying that you can't just drop a player 4 rounds later because you've changed your mind (or becasue you might see that the way the draft has developed, you're better off going with a different option). Pretty much defeats the whole purpose of holding a live draft.
As for the Morneau drop: Say Morneau would have been available when my pick came around in the 3rd round, I may have selected him. But since he was dropped after my pick , and subsequently picked by another manager, my option of getting him had been eliminated.
In both cases you guys should have been forced to work the trade route.
