New Strat Game

Postby Free Radicals » Mon Apr 23, 2007 6:06 pm

There will always be those who love and hate the mystery card . I play more ATG than anything else . I like to know what to expect . In the 80's game I did so-so but in 70's I am kickin tail so I like it . I voted for the 69 season . I played it 5-6 teams but the players pool is so limited that if you don't get a decent draft there is no way to recoop from it . I no longer 69 for that reason . Personally I would like to see a 60's game with an option for mystery card or not . Have a default set and a mystery set . I'd also like to see options on league configurations . Why 12 teams -3 divisions all the time . It would be nice to have let's say 4 divisions of 6 or 2 of 8-10 or or or or ...variety is the spice of life they say ...

I HATE THE MYSTERY CARD...and it has single-handidly kept me from EVER playing the era that first got me hooked/addicted to strat...the 80;s. however, I LOVE FREE RAD'S idea...a setup where the league could choose to use the mystery card or not. HOWEVER #2,,,I doubt it's possible to set up an engine to work either way on a league by league basis, HOWEVER #3....even if it were technically possible, it makes too much sense, and HAL seems to enjoy how much many HATE the mystery card to ever consider it.

as for a single season suggestion, since I used to play with the set face to face, and it was pretty interesting...1981, or 1994, both are strike seasons...so the numbers are skewed, but you have a chance to see what would happen over 162, and in the case of 1994, it was the first outbreak of monster offensive numbers. matt williams was chasing ruth, and there were classic seasons cut short on many fronts.

1987 is a must. If only so that Bodie, myself and other psychologically damaged Cardinals fans can work out our issues.

What Phils fan wouldn't want to travel back to '87? Ah Von Hayes, we miss you so.

Got to love a season when Steve Bedrosian wins the Cy Young.

Bernie was [i:fb1ad2417d]supposed [/i:fb1ad2417d]to come up with that option for the 70's game, and yea where is it?

I echo Meat (despite the image that might conjure up). I have refused to play the 80s game because of the Mystery card.

Did play the 1969 season once, and it was fun, but my team was atrocious. Drafted too many guys from my youth (Roy White, where for are thou?).

I'd like to see 1978, probably.
