Waiving Players

Waiving Players

Can someone explain to new players that when you Wavie Players all of the time that you lose Value from your Starting Team Salary Cap. I attempted in one of my leagues and got pounded because they accussed me of saying they were trying to lose. If you drop a player and pick-up someone that helps you win and that is what is meant by value then I agree, but that was not my point, I was pointing out $$ Value. Any input would be nice. SGT D

There is a newbie advice thread somewhere on the boards that explains this nicely. It is very helpful for new managers.

I know the feeling, I have been in similar leagues...massive drops within 6 games of the start of the season, sometimes with the same player getting picked up and dropped a few times in the same day!! :x

What's the big deal about new players waiving players? That's what new players do. If they or anyone wants to waive players, so be it. We know it's not usually the way to play to have success, and they will find that out soon enough. It may warp your league a bit, but that's the chance you take when entering a Public League. Everyone has a learning curve, and waiving players is part of it. As long as they don't purposely do something to alter the competetive balance, let them live and learn.

They're free to drop and add all TSN wants to let them do.

My concern is twofold: skewing a league by creating a 1962 Mets through daily drop/adds, and a new player buying a team, doing drop and add that leads to a bad team, then either quitting the game in mid-season or not buying teams in the future because they finish 50-112 and Nick Punto is their best hitter. If they know what they are doing, fine, I suppose it is their money.

I find it much easier to just drop and pick up then to try and trade. I might just let Beltran go at 12 million, rather then sit here and try to make a trade. I don't have the time and really don't want to figure out how to get this done any other way. I will take the loss in salary. It is my team and I will do it my way, as Frank always sang. Most of us don't cheat, I just don't have the time and I really don't care that much, as my overall record shows. I am highly entertained by the game and that is worth the money I spend. As far as the total break down for every season and who plays best in what park? Big deal! I have never bought a CD rom or any other advantage device that can be bought on this or any other site. (cheating I don't think so, advantage YES!) I have had the Batting Champ, the Base Stealing Champ, Gold Glove winners and All Stars. No Divsion winners or Championships. Maybe someday, but that also is something that does not bother me. I buy a 5 pack each year and thats all I play. As soon as one is done I play another one. That is what my .37 cents a day gets me. I can't even mail a letter for that.
