Hit and Run settings

Hit and Run settings

Postby JEFFFESPERMAN » Tue May 08, 2007 3:33 am

I have always been hesitant to use the hit and run option since I was not sure how HAL interpreted things, but I currentlly have a team playing in RFK where it would be useful to hit and run on occassion.

I would like to use hit and run only when I have a hitter with a B rating at the plate with a baserunner who is being held. Will the "conservative" setting do the trick or do I need to select "normal" to acheive the desired results?

I have found using more than conservative doesn't yield a good %. I would also check H & R more with the "B" rated guys you want to H & R with.

If you want the H&R to execute only in the case described above I'd say conservative H&R.

Problem is that not everytime you have that scenario will a H&R be attempted, so the question is do you want to H&R everytime you have the case above (or as often as possible) or only when the case above is met -even if lower attempts.

If it's only when (as you mentioned) then I'd say conservative is a safer bet but what DJ mentioned is right, the BA off H&R has a tendency to go down but the succ. % in moving the runner stays OK.

Personally if what you want is to move runners bunting is a bit better IMHO if the hitter is a bad bunter, and you're kinda stuck with him then go with DJ's settings. H&R=normal and I'd check H&R more depending on the hitter and the two hitters in front of him.

Good luck.
