Live draft survey...

Postby Sknsfan » Tue May 15, 2007 3:28 pm

I have the number 1 pick in an upcoming live draft. Normally I would go after a top hitter, but since there is a definite lack of pitching in the 2007 season, am I better taking a top pitcher, especially considering it's 22 picks before my next selection?

Any thoughts on who you'd take (or have taken in live drafts for 2007) with the first pick?

Usually I relish the first pick, but this one is giving me fits.

As my mother would say "May this be your worst problem in life" :)

I'd go for (and have gone for) Santana or Halladay with the top pick. As you mentioned...pitching in short supply.

Much easier to adopt your draft choices in a live draft too, so you'll know when to pull the trigger on certain positions/players.

Course that's just my approach towards '07, others may take a different route based on ballpark choice...

Vizquel...the greatest defensive card ever at the most important defensive position in a year where D really counts!

if you are playing vs good players, I'd go Pujols. The hitters usually go fast and the pitchers slower vs experienced players in a live draft in my experience. You leave your options open with Pujols, who is capable of playing anywhere. Twenty guys will be gone by the time you come around again, and you will have a better idea which way to go based on what's left. There will most likely be a good "*" left, and there will definitely be good non-* left.
