I vote 80 mil, no drafting of players from non-drafted teams, trading allowed! :)

Im in the '80s AM-Natl challenge. Limit non-franchise players to one or two (non-drafted teams). Limit trades to 3. Need to keep the intregrity of teams intact.

mo, it's your theme, and I don't have a problem with the compromise you offer.

League Options

Postby mhpine » Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:24 am

I have the following preferences:

(1) Keeping the 6 undrafted teams out and allowing unlimited trading with a $100 million franchise cap/$80 million roster cap

The reason for this is that it will facilitate trading, making it more of a genuine GM experience than normal. For example, if you have the Mets & Yankees, you'll have a hole at 2B but A-Rod and David Wright at 3B. You can then trade David Wright to another team that has an extra 2B.

In this case, trades will fill most if not all roster holes, and the players from COL, TB, KC, etc... aren't necessary (The pickings are going to be awful slim after the first 5 or 6 picks as well - the second lotto drawing should be renamed the Pick Helton).

(2) Keeping the 6 undrafted teams out, unlimited trading with an $80 million or $100 million ordinary cap.

(3) Allowing unlimited trading within the drafted franchises, but capping the number of players from the undrafted teams to no more than 2 per team (selected in an 2-round draft)

(4) Mo's proposal but with a requirment of only 18 franchise players per team (instead of 20) to give a little more flexibility for trading.

However, I am perfectly happy to play with the rules Mo suggested - thanks for organizing this league!

OKey Dokey,

Cummings checking in, 8) with the 7th spot in the draft and 8) with Mo's rules.

I imagine the draft will be done in a League chat thread?

The reason I chose 20 franchise player minimum is that not only is it provides a healthy percentage of franchise teams, 20 of 24 of those drafted, and it would allow an owner to take four FA picks in the live draft. If an owner wants more flexibility for trading, then skip a round or two in the live draft and put more than 20 franchise players on the roster or expand the roster with franchise players picked up after the draft (up to the maximum of 28 players). Again, for all the possible options, there is no one set of rules which will meet all preferences ... but I think this may come as close as may be possible.

The draft is on ... Hendrix08 up.

I'm here... I'm just having a hard time figuring out which team to pick since I won't be picking again till the very end. I'll pick shortly.

My availability to draft

Postby mhpine » Thu Dec 01, 2005 5:04 pm

FYI, I will not have internet access from late Friday afternoon until Saturday evening.

Hopefully, we can have a nice run of draft picks tonight so I can make my two franchise picks tomorrow.
