Game engine upgrade for Monday, 5/21

Postby Valen » Mon May 21, 2007 8:38 am

Not a criticism but merely a thought for you to consider. And I admit I do not play either the 80s or the 70s because of the mystery card. So this does not matter to me but it might to you Bernie. But I could see where this extra information in the box score such as "bpHR 1-8" could be very revealing regarding which year card you have for a player.

So those playing the mystery card games may or may not want this particular enhancement. You might consider running a poll for those guys and try for a consensus so you do not get blindsided with complaints once those guys realize it.

Improvements look good, but I *did* find a glitch and posted to the suggestions forum. Please take a look.

Thanks,

First of all, a display bug seems to have slipped through the cracks during Monday night's debut of the game engine upgrade. This resulted in some ballpark HR chances being misreported as ballpark singles ("bpSI") in the play-by-plays. Rest assured that this is simply a display issue, and that the game results were not affected in any way. We will have this fixed going forward.

Secondly, for you board-game vets who are used to seeing all failed ballpark single chances result in lineouts - you will now see them result in a variety of other outs (flyouts, popouts, groundouts, etc.) as a result of the "Improve Out Distribution" Maximum Rule, as per the CD-ROM game.

Other than the aforementioned display bug I hope the new, more detailed play-by-play report adds to your enjoyment of the game.

Yeah--kudos on the upgrade! Now I have to waste a lot more time at work, but it's worth it! 8)

New Changes

Thanx for the fine addition. I have a comment about the distribution of outs though... I noticed a couple of Foulout: SS results. While it's reasonable to assume a SS can run down a foul ball, I would not expect to see that but once a season....

Bernie, Great job!

Would it be possible to start the game processing at the 10pm est deadline, as opposed to waiing until 12 midnight est? The midnight deadline is a big advantage for the west coast players over east coast players...

thanks for your thoughts,

jh
