P experiment

P experiment

Well, my experiment of loading up on P in a P park is performing - just not the way I thought it would. I've only given up 113 runs (best in league) but I've only score 108.

I've got T Brown, McLain, Hughson, Spahn as SP's with B Adams and Perranoski in the pen and a bunch of nickel S's - thinking I could get max IP out of my SP's and then get Adams/Perranoski to clean up the IP that my starters didn't get.

Observations:
1) I thought McLain would have more K's (26 in 57 IP)
2) M Haas is killing me (15 ER in 8 IP) - how the hell do I keep him out? He's already in my rotation and still being used...
3) I thought I'd get more IP out of my SP - McLain has 4 of 8 starts where he's gone 6 IP or less.

Well, here you go:

Any thoughts? Should I blow it up, drop Adams and grab some Offense? If so, who should be replaced? Proves again, that this game baffles me.

You need someone to drive in runs . No true run producer . I've found that Jim Rice is awesome at Forbes . Cheap and hits pretty well . Bowa isn't helping you much . I don't know about "blowing up " but you could do some moving that doesn't rip apart the starters you have with some thought put into it . There's alot of 4M or less decent pitchers . Boyd, Roberts,Wilson , Nolan , Knepper , Mc Nally, Hunter,Petry . Even non * SP , such as Craig, Johnson, Maxwell, Santiago types . You could timker and not kill your staff being the point .

set haas to mop up

make sure all your starters are on slow hook

might as well put Adams and Perranoski on slow hooks as well - don't know if it does anything

make sure relief set to normal and conservative

set Adams to close and set up both ways

An extreme pitching team can win without much hitting. It can't win with an ERA in the range yours is. That ERA has got to be closer to 2.5 than to 3.5
